Summary
During a summoning, Nathaniel finds himself together with Bartimaeus in old Beleriand. Bartimaeus, who feels much more at home here than in London and has less restrictions imposed on him, does his best to beat some moral values into the young magician’s mind. But between strange flora and fauna, orc attacks and weird people (that are definitely not human), Nathaniel is stubbornly resisting any attempts at intercultural communication, insisting Bartimaeus solves this conundrum immediately, so they can get back to hunt the rebels from London.

Love between demons isn’t unheard of, but invariably ends in tragedy, as their allegiances change constantly depending on whatever magician last summoned them. Crowley is intrigued by Faquarl‘s vision of an Earth ruled by demons. Could this finally be a chance for him and Aziraphale to be free, together? Or is it too good to be true?
