It was an ugly war, many lost on both sides, but eventually the Downworlders emerged victorious. The warlocks created a spell to strip the Nephilim of their source of power, their angelic Runes, leaving them as weak as humans. Their steles were confiscated, as were their weapons and their lands. They were reduced to nothing. This became known as the Accords War, the time when Downworlders gained their independence, and the Shadowhunters crumbled."
    Now Shadowhunters are enslaved as Pets and sold to Downworlders for their amusement. When Magnus goes to buy his first pet, beautiful, tragic Alec Lightwood, he has no idea what he has just gotten himself into.
