Merlin has a hard time breathing, and it’s not because of Arthur’s weight; the thought that none of this would’ve happened if not for him hasn’t left him alone all night. It’s all the more tangible with Arthur clinging to the shreds of his composure.
“I’m sorry,” he says, his voice cracking with how much he means it.
Arthur's kidnapped. Of course, Merlin comes to find him, but getting Arthur out might've been the easiest part.

Or - the first time Arthur gets hurt after his return, Merlin doesn't take it well.Merlin breaks off as his gaze falls on Arthur, and all the colour drains from his face so quickly, Arthur’s afraid he might just faint. The picture is only worsened by how still Merlin’s suddenly become, except for where his chest starts to rise and fall increasingly fast.
“Merlin?” Arthur asks, not bothering to mask the worry that’s curling around his ribs, and he takes a step closer, pain all but forgotten.

Arthur stood in front of the apple vendor silently cursing himself and ludicrous foreign customs.
It had been a while since the king had patrolled through the lower towns and so he decided that day seemed as good as any to do so. It had absolutely nothing to do with wanting to purchase an apple. And even if it had, he was merely purchasing to support the local vendors and because he simply wanted an apple, nothing more.
Right, nothing to do with Merlin at all, Arthur thought. With that last thought, he grabbed the nearest apple and gave the man his coin, already feeling silly over how long he had stood in front of those damn apples.
