Emergency Fics For Bad Brain Days
This is a collection of short, complete, exceptionally well-written crack & fluff fics. They've been chosen for the ability to make me smile and grin and cackle, no matter how bad my Major Depressive Episode has gotten. Maybe they can help you too. I've included as many fandoms as I could think of, so if your fave isn't represented... I probably don't watch that show. Sorry. I regularly add on works as I discover new fandoms which I enjoy.
If you're reading this, I hope you're getting the help you need, whatever that may look like for you. I know that people don't always have access to decent healthcare. If you ever want to talk, I'm here, and I promise I'll understand. I've been there too. Always remember, there's nothing braver than asking for help when you really need it.
If it ain't broke, fix it anyway.

“Saturday. Yeah, that’s good,” Steve says, and actually scuffs his shoe at the ground. Like a ridiculous shy superhero damsel. “Say eight? I live-“
“Yeah, big building with the A on it,” Bucky says, and can’t help a big stupid grin. Steve stares at him, looking a little dazed, and after their whole conversation it’s only now that Bucky’s brain catches up and realises Steve finds him quite attractive. So. Win for Bucky.
“Let me get your number,” Steve says finally, after they’ve stared stupidly at each other for about three hours, taking out his phone.
So they exchange numbers, and then Steve says he should go, and Bucky agrees, and they kind of stare at each other for a bit more, then Steve actually does go, but not before taking Bucky’s hand and squeezing it warmly in a way that makes Bucky want to shiver all over. Then Steve is gone, and Bucky is standing alone in the alley, grinning to himself.
Right up until the moment he remembers that Steve thinks Bucky is an escort he’s just hired.

What it says, 5 times Steve Rogers ended up in jail (with and without Bucky) + 1 time all of the Avengers got arrested with him.

It starts innocently enough.
Steve knows that while the arm is balanced into Bucky’s skeleton with adamantium and vibranium fusing, it still sometimes aggravates the muscles of his back. Not badly and never to the level of pain he had been used to with Hydra, but enough to make him shift and stretch on the couch.

“Dr. Foster, this is a tower full of highly trained soldiers, spies, and geniuses. If we can’t track down and subdue a frith—um, small Asgardian mammal, then nobody can,” Steve says. He tries to look reassuring. It must not be working. She’s still looking around like it might pop out at any moment.
“Frithrkottr,” she says. She takes a deep breath and tucks some errant strands of hair behind her ear. “It’s furry. Kitten-sized.”
“A real cause for panic,” he says, trying to make her smile.
She doesn’t look calmed.
