Personally, I think that you can change things with time travel, but they won't affect you after. For example, if you go back in time and kill your grandfather, a new version of you won't be born, but you already exist, and there is no universal auto correct to erase you, so you keep existing. No fading out of existence, no memories being changed you just keep going and can't get back to you're normal future. Whenever people add on to that, it is just them overthinking things.
Agree! I def think you have to have some wiggle room like that when it comes to time travel stories, otherwise, uh, like, you wouldn't be able to tell fun time travel stories at all, lol.
