Summary
“we have to go back out,” says yoongi. he likes this, sometimes, when jeongguk shifts back and he’s vulnerable and a little needy and it’s just he and yoongi. when he comes to yoongi like this, needing affection as a human as much as he does as a bunny. “c’mon, bunny. you can sleep in my bed tonight if it makes you feel better.”
it seems to take jeongguk a few moments to decide, as though he can actually choose not to go back out and finish the fansign. they’ll gloss over what happened, because everyone knows anyway, and yoongi will try to ignore the media articles about it. it’s hard, but they all do their best to make jeongguk feel like he’s done nothing wrong. it’s just the magic within him. it’s just the wrong ability with the wrong profession. it could probably be worse.
“okay,” jeongguk finally mumbles, lifting his head.
“hop to it,” yoongi says.
“hyung,” groans jeongguk, but yoongi is already turning around and leaving the room. “that’s offensive.”
(or: jeongguk is a shapeshifter; yoongi takes care of him, human or not.)

Summary
“please, hyung,” adds jeongguk, squeezing his eyes shut tight and tight. “stay.”
“i can’t,” says yoongi, but he tugs a little on jeongguk’s wrist anyway. dips his head, kisses the back of jeongguk’s hand. “you know i can’t.”
what jeongguk knows is: yoongi smokes when he’s anxious, even though he’s not supposed to and gets in trouble every time he’s caught with the smell on his breath. yoongi has a spot right behind his knees that makes him giggle uncontrollably if tickled but he’ll never admit to it. when they were in high school, yoongi used to steal him during free periods and buy him milkshakes or root beer floats or anything he wanted, just to lick the stickiness right out of his mouth. now it’s—different. he knows a lot about yoongi. knows, too, that yoongi can’t stay, not anymore, no matter how many times jeongguk asks. no matter how prettily he begs.
(or: no matter how famous he gets, yoongi can never quite let go of his high school sweetheart. but jeongguk is so, so tired of holding on.)

Summary
it happens all at once, so quickly that jeongguk almost doesn’t have time to react. but years of training and defending himself have prepared him for moments like these, and the second yoongi, without any prior warning, flings the steak knife at his face, jeongguk’s body snaps sideways. he hears the knife embed itself in the wall, and he turns around to look at it for a second.
“you ruined the wallpaper,” he says, and then looks back at yoongi. only then does it all come together in his mind—yoongi knows. yoongi knows that he knows. jeongguk has been hired to kill yoongi, but there’s a very high chance that yoongi has been hired to kill jeongguk.
“oops,” says yoongi.

Summary
he switched places with jeongguk. and yesterday, jeongguk was him. jeongguk went to his hard-earned government job and probably made a fool of himself, and he ate all of the food in yoongi’s fridge, and he called taehyung and hoseok hyung a bunch of times, like an idiot. they became each other for a day. jeongguk lived his life, this dumb kid who likes cheetos too much.
yoongi is horrified. he thinks of the night in seoul, of finally having a taste of what he always wanted his life to be like—he loved it. he wanted more. but right then and there, looking at the evidence of a college kid from seoul fucking with his life, yoongi decides that he would really rather stay in his own life.
except—that’s not what happens, of course.

Summary
he can’t help the worry that gnaws at frozen feet as he waits for jeongguk to summon him, waits for the tell tale smoke that rises from his hands, lets him pinpoint jeongguk’s location and go to him. but it doesn’t come—it never does. and it’s new: this yearning. inexplicable, almost, for a heart that has beat for hundreds of years and never allowed itself to feel something like this.
maybe it’s time that yoongi let himself feel it. let himself acknowledge all of it—the way jeongguk has nestled into his heart, has made a place there for himself with candles and glittery costumes and bunny smiles. the way jeongguk has convinced him, bit by bit, that there are worse ways to live. yoongi is supposed to die—he was supposed to the first time, centuries ago. but now, finally, he understands something he couldn’t anticipate when he waited all of those centuries for his bride to show up: it’s not a punishment to live if he finally has something worth living for.
(or: yoongi has waited almost a thousand years for his bride, like the universe intended. but when jeongguk finally shows up, yoongi stops playing by the rules. a guardian: the great and lonely god au.)

Summary
“jeongguk-ah, what are you doing?” asks yoongi lowly. jeongguk responds with a little whine, not bothering to answer—he’s not sure what he would say, anyway. he’s known about the full moon thing for years already, but he’s always been very careful not to be around other people so that he doesn’t have to put himself into an incriminating situation. he’s certainly never been around yoongi during the full moon, choosing to jerk off to the memory of yoongi kissing him, of invisible hands holding him close but not close enough.
and that’s the problem, isn’t it—yoongi and jeongguk have always kept this boundary between them. making out is one thing, but jeongguk admitting that he would very much like for yoongi to stick his beautiful albeit invisible dick inside of him is something else entirely.

Summary
“either way, you’re not a very good… whatever you are. aren’t witches supposed to be good at flying?”
yoongi frowns. “i’m good at flying,” he says. “i was just trying not to get hit by that truck!”
“it’s okay, i won’t tell anyone that you’re a fake witch,” says jeongguk, grinning now, like he’s proud of himself. he looks stupid, yoongi decides. partially because his hair is pink, and who on earth decides to dye their hair pink? also because he looks too cocky for his own good, and he’s got dust all over his shoulder that he hasn’t gotten rid of. out of spite, yoongi doesn’t tell him about it.
(or: yoongi is a wandering witch just trying to find a place to call home. he doubts he’ll find it anywhere jeongguk is—but he’s been wrong before.)

Summary
jeongguk stares. at—himself. as a sixteen-year-old. he’s got—black hair, just as fluffy and terribly dishevelled as it’s always been in the morning, and there’s baby fat on his cheeks, and there are gauges in his ears, and he’s staring with those wide wide eyes that jeongguk knows, that jeongguk has—this jeongguk. and also that jeongguk.
they stare at each other for an inordinate amount of time, it feels—that jeongguk with a tea cup in his hand and a massive white t-shirt on. and jeongguk had just assumed that if this was a dream, he would be the only jeongguk. and if this wasn’t a dream and he’d somehow ended up here for real, he would have switched places with himself or just turned up in the other’s place.
but. that’s clearly not the case.
“um,” says jeongguk, this jeongguk. “hello?”
and jeongguk—that jeongguk—screams.

Summary
“you need me to remind you?” asks yoongi, and there’s just—a hint of something dangerous in it, something that wasn’t there before. “remind you that you’re mine and i’m yours and you have nothing to worry about?” for a second, jeongguk doesn’t really understand, and then he feels yoongi trail his hand down jeongguk’s chest, all the way down to his waistline, and he tugs at one of jeongguk’s belt loops. their hips knock together, jeongguk letting out a breathy oh.
oh. oh. oh.

Summary
“stop being a fucking brat, jeongguk,” snaps yoongi.
he already knows where this is going, but he’s powerless to stop it—as he always is. sometimes he considers what would happen if he took everyone’s advice and actually talked to jeongguk instead of letting it continue like this, all of these years later. but the truth is that he kind of likes it—likes the way jeongguk takes a step toward him, and then another, and another, until they’re standing toe to toe, jeongguk using the few inches of height he has on yoongi to attempt to appear imposing.
they stare at each other. then jeongguk whispers, “make me.”

Summary
then jeongguk says, “i would like to apologize, but i don’t believe i am who you think i am.” he looks at yoongi, still confused as ever. “my name is jeon jeongguk. i’m the personal guard of prince min yoongi, the second son of the king and queen of the kingdom of great joseon. when i fell asleep last night, it was the year 1719. i seem to have… traveled here by some form of magic.”
jeongguk looks at him like he’s meant to have some answer for that. but yoongi can only stare at jeongguk, replaying the words back in his head. and then, once the silence has stretched on long enough, yoongi begins laughing.

Summary
“that’s fucking gay,” says yoongi.
“you’re fucking gay,” says taehyung.
“he is,” agrees jeongguk, and yoongi looks up at him with that same lazy grin; there’s only the light of the moon and the magical fireflies that someone must have conjured to see by, but it’s enough to see the way jeongguk looks at him. yoongi wants to blame it on the alcohol and the drugs, but jeongguk always kind of looks at yoongi like he can’t believe yoongi is real, like no magic could ever compare. yoongi understands. it’s the way he looks at jeongguk, too.

he can tell that yoongi isn’t all that comfortable here, with the idea of a ranch. and he knows that they’re here to do homework, but jeongguk can’t help milking this for all that it’s worth. so he asks, “d’you want a tour? i can show you the stables and some of the horses and stuff. maybe if they like you, i’ll even take you for a ride the next time you have to come over.”
“um,” says yoongi, looking down at his clothes. “are you sure this is appropriate?”
“oh, it really isn’t,” grins jeongguk, already heading back out of the door, “but i just want to see you squirm, min yoongi.”

maybe that’s part of it, too—he just wants to kiss jeongguk because he wants to, because he can. they could live here in this cottage, and yoongi could get a bigger bed. they could wander the woods hand in hand, stop at lakes to visit the merpeople and fairies that live deep in the trees. they could have everything right here.

he pauses the video. there jeongguk is, crooning into the microphone, blissfully unaware to anything happening behind him. and there yoongi is—there yoongi is. jeongguk stares at his face, caught on camera, as he watches jeongguk.
i see the way you look at him from the back of the stage. you can’t fake that.
yoongi is looking at him… with a quiet sort of awe on his face, the sort of softness that he rarely shows on stage because it doesn’t fit the image that he apparently wants to portray. he’s looking at jeongguk with his lips parted, eyes bright and fond. even in this still image, jeongguk suddenly sees it, breath hitching—yoongi is looking at jeongguk the way jeongguk looks at yoongi.

“what the fuck, hyung,” laughs namjoon. “jimin and taehyung said you were trying to help an injured werewolf, but i didn’t know you were going to cuddle him.”
“i’m not,” growls yoongi, trying to wiggle out of jeongguk’s grasp. but even in sleep, his grip is far too strong—and somehow, he’s still sleeping even with all of the ruckus. all it does is alert jeongguk that yoongi is trying to leave, and he gives a sleepy hum before hitching his leg over yoongi’s thighs, effectively trapping him. “oh, for god’s sake.”
“yoongi-hyung has a booooyfriend!” crows jimin, still giggling madly on the floor. “and he's a puppy!”
