“Don’t play with fire, Katara. Unless you’re prepared to burn.”
The Avatar is dead. Sozin’s Comet ushered the world into a new and dark era, disrupting and upsetting the natural balance of the universe.
For years, all that Katara has known are the four stone-walls of her cold and dark cell. When the Fire Nation passes a new decree that forces prisoners of the war to bear noblemen’s and officers’ children, she’s thrust back into a world she’d long since forsaken.
A world that is on the verge of yet another war.

Summary
Everyone knows the story of the Avatar, master of all four elements. How they are reborn every generation in the cycle of elements. However, there is a part of the story many overlook.
The Guardian, protector of the fledgling Avatars and the other half of the Avatar spirit. One has served an Avatar for each incarnation, with many serving multiple before passing the mantle to their disciple.
However, when the Great War began, the Guardian vanished, along with the Avatar. Many believe that Firelord Sozin found a way to destroy them, breaking the cycle and ensuring the Fire Nation's victory. But there are still those who have hope. There are still those who trust that the cycle remains, and that one day, the Avatar and Guardian will return.

Summary
Aang actually mustered up a smile, as small as it was genuine. “Katara would have wanted me to talk about it, and I’m not ready for that yet. And Sokka would have tried to get my mind off it, but I spent the whole war trying not to think about it because if I did...” Aang’s lip trembled for one terrifying second before he regathered his composure. “I need to let myself feel it,” he said with a shrug, “now that I have the time to really grieve. And Toph would have told me to get over it – not in a bad way, just, she doesn’t see the point in dwelling on things or dancing around them, you know? But you just let me be sad. I needed that. I think I’m going to need that for a while…And,” he added after a pause, so quietly that Zuko didn’t trust his ears at first, “I need my best friend.”
OR, after the war, Aang finally grieves for all the people he has lost. Including Aang discovering what happened to Kuzon and gratuitous amounts of Aang and Zuko fluff because these boys are best friends, and I will die on that hill!

Summary
Azula had always been what Ozai had wanted her to be. But with a few months of therapy under her belt and after making some new friends, Azula had come to the conclusion that Ozai may have been wrong about a few things.
But who is she actually when she isn't the perfect princess of the Fire Nation? To answer this question Azula, together with the friends she made during her time there, breaks out of the mental hospital she was sent to after the war. Zuzu did always espouse the value of life changing field trips after all and Azula decided she should have one as well.
Or:
I always thought that the concept of the Fire Warriors had a lot of potential, which wasn't really explored in the comics. So I decided to write about them myself.
This story will mostly focus on Azula and the Fire Warriors: Them going on adventures together, getting up to some hijinks, using the Kemurikage disguises to become vigilantes and helping each other, as well as Azula learning and realising some things about herself and the world.

Summary
“I’m not the same person I was at the end of the war,” her voice was soft but resolute.
He was captivated by the intensity of her blue eyes, piercing the darkness with fierce passion. She paused, as if weighing the changes time wrought upon him.
“I suppose you aren’t either.”
With their faces bathed in the soft radiance of red lanterns and the glow of moonlight, their words lost to the cacophony of fireworks in the starlit sky, it felt as though they were suspended in time. The world around them dissolved into insignificance. There was no Fire Nation, no Water Tribes, no Hundred-Year War that left their shoulders so burdened with grief. They were just two souls, destinies intertwined like the Sun and Moon crossing paths in the boundless expanse of the night sky. After constantly traveling across the four nations, Katara finds herself adrift, unsure of her place in the world. Meanwhile, Zuko is unbalanced, grappling with the weight of the Fire Nation placed upon his shoulders and haunted by the mystery of his mother’s disappearance.
Three years after the war, the tangled strings of fate pull them back together and they must embark on a journey to transform the future of their nations.

but this sort of thing is the kind that can't even get past zuko!
so he asked the question that no one but someone as rock-brained as him would ask:
"wait- you and aang aren't dating?" he blurts out very confused, he doesn't scratch his head but he raises an eyebrow. he could've sworn by the looks the two would sneak that they had been dating for years! katara spits out her tea. "hey! watch it!"
"WHAT?" zuko doesn't see why katara was over reacting this much, it was a harmless question, to him at least. while katara couldn't understand how he could bring up such an unexpected topic so nonchalantly.

au where aang and katara don't get together at the end of the show and none of the kisses are canon. they come to find their feelings for eachother as later teens. those same feelings they'd mistaken for platonic love.

Summary
According to the scribes Fire Lord Azulon was the only child of Fire Lord Sozin the great conqueror, born late in his life under the light of the passing comet. At least that was what he wanted his people to believe to make his claim of the throne seem more legitimate. But that does not mean it was the truth.
This is the story of the long-forgotten Fire Princess who had stood against the horror her family had unleashed upon the world. Who dared to fight for what she had thought was right and paid for it with her life.
This is a story that only a select few still know of, yet it still affects so many.

Summary
A casualty of war isn't always a death. Sometimes it's a very unfortunate birth.
Sokka of the Southern Water Tribe is a born traitor, as the village says, with his golden eyes and fiery powers. Mistreated his whole life, when he is exposed to the rest of the world in this terrible war, what will he do?
Between the strangely comforting presence of his "enemy" Zuko, and every person he meets instant dislike for him, the answer may be obvious.

Summary
Running a country is hard. Especially when 90% of the people living there hate you. But Zuko’s not a quitter. He’ll make ends meet. After all, he’s got nothing left to lose.
It's got its tense moments, but this is actually something of a comedy. Zuko struggles to adjust to life after the war, and when life is hard, what else is there to do but laugh?
Set almost 10 years after ATLA. Canon-compliant to ALTA (mostly) but not the comics or LoK.
