1 - 20 of 29 Works in Castiel Makes the First Move (Supernatural)
“You told me in tongues.” Dean snaps “Can you try it again in English?”
At his side, Cass bristles. “My deal is when I’m happy he will take me.”
“Dean.” He begins. “The things that can make me happy are numbered. When the Shadow peered inside my mind, it saw everything. My feelings of inadequacy and uselessness, my greatest fears, my enemies… the people I love.”
“I’m not saying you made the wrong call Cass.” He says gently. “Just - why didn’t you tell us?”
“What would that have done?”
“Something.” Dean insists. “We'd have gone face to face with that monster!”
“There it is.” Cass says softly. “What good would that have done? The thing that could make me happy… facing off against the being who wishes to take it all away?”
That gives Dean pause. “Me and Sam… we make you happy?”
“Yes.” Cass says carefully. “Being with you and Sam brings me great joy.”
“Dean.” Cass says sternly, catching his attention. “Once I thought that you knew. You are a connoisseur in matters such as this. Now, that we're in a place that is all our own, I think you’re ready to hear this.”
Dean’s been ready for the past hour, but okay.
“You make me unbelievably happy Dean.”
One-shots of all the ways Castiel can be taken by The Empty.
“I’d like to welcome you all here today to mourn the passing of a good friend.” His voice is solemn, the slight waver indicates that something is actually wrong – that Dean isn’t just playing a prank on them.
“He’s stuck with me for years.” Dean exhales. Castiel glances at Sam to see if he has any inkling of what is happening.
Why would Dean call them here? Today? To stand near a shallow grave?
The set-up is a funeral. Not a hunter’s funeral but a more traditional one. But, the thing is, there’s no body to be seen. And in Castiel’s knowledge, for a funeral, you need a corpse.
Sam raises his hand half-way.
“What?” Dean seems annoyed.
“Are you talking about Cass?”
“No. Sam!” Dean rolls his eyes. “How can we have a funeral for Cass if he’s standing right there.”
"What I'm trying to say is that I love you Cass"
Castiel takes a step forward, wanting to pull Dean close – to hug him or to taste his lips, for the very first time – when he feels the tugging on his grace.
In his confusion, he stumbles, falling directly into the grave that Dean dug.
Never to rise again.
“The way I feel about Dean cannot be expressed by the human tongue.” Cass says into the air as Sam is loading supplies into the Impala.
He stops dead in his tracks and glances over to Cass who maintains the eye contact.
“I wasn’t going to mention it.” he says with utter sincerity.
Sam want to strange him. How many hints can someone drop? And how oblivious do you have to be to have missed every single one of them?
“Can you go and not mention it to Dean?” he asks,
“Why would I do that?” he asks incredulously. “Then I would be mentioning it to Dean.”
“Then why do you keep ‘not mentioning these’ things to me?”
Cass cocks his head. “I don’t know.” He says. “I just… you’re just there Sam. Don’t turn this onto me! I wasn’t even going to mention it.”
Sam sighs as Cass marches out of the room, almost barrelling into Dean.
“What’s up with him?” Dean asks, walking in and offering him a piece of bacon.
He holds up a hand and waves the bacon away. “He just came to ‘not mention’ something.”
Dean blinks at him in confusion.
“What I’m saying Dean,” He says carefully. “is that you just need to let him down gently.”

It’s strange how five little words can change your life forever.
“I’m in love with Dean.”
The words aren’t even directed at anyone… rather just said vaguely into the air.
Big romantic gestures had never been his thing. But he knows, as much as Dean hates to admit it… he loves chick-flicks. He wants someone who will be over the top just because they love him. Maybe that’s why Sam hadn’t just told Cass to abandon the whole idea.
Cass and Dean are already sitting in the kitchen when he wakes up and Dean is half surprised that Dean hasn’t already started bar hopping for women. When he whispers his concerns to Cass, the angel just whispers back: “I asked him to stay.”
Sam is still standing there awestruck when Dean’s teeth make a loud clank.
“Cass, did you forget a cinnamon stick or something in here.”
Sam glances across at Cass who nervously leans against the table, analysing Dean’s every move. He assumes Cass is waiting till Dean is done with the pie to talk to him about his feelings.
“Cass what the hell is this?” Dean’s voice is a combination of breathy, hopeful and terrified.
Sam whips his gaze around to find Dean holding a silver ring coated in half-chewed pie.
“You’re a real Cass-anova, aren’t you?” He hears Dean mumble, but his mind sounds far away. “Man, your penmanship is crappy. You got a pen?” Dean asks.
“A-at the bunker.”
Sam is straining to see what’s written on the paper but it’s too crumpled and too far away. He knew he should have brought along his binoculars.
“We have to leave then.” Dean says gruffly
When Sam enters the bunker he’s drenched in complete silence. He had expected to walk in in the middle of their blow out.
Sam’s eyes dart around looking for anything out of place. It takes him a minute but he finds a crumpled piece of paper on the map table.
Jolting forward he unwraps the note with trembling fingers.
(2) Country Holmes Apple Pie………$23.00
Lover’s Double Smoothie……………$5.00
He casts the paper aside in frustration before he can make it to the taxes. He runs a hand through his hair and he lets the paper drop.
That’s when he sees it: blue ink on the reverse side of the bill.
It’s Cass illegibly scribble alright.
Do you want to be my boyfriend?
Castiel stares at himself in the mirror while Dean fumbles around with the tapered part of his coat. He suddenly feels like a penguin… waddling around in a black and white suit.
“You look sharp.” Dean observes.
A smile flits across his face. “Thank you Dean. You look handsome too.”
“Well, we have Sam to thank.” He murmurs. “I still don’t get why he’s being so secretive and formal. I swear man, I saw him sneaking around dressed as a father. Who does he think he is… the pope?”
As Dean slips out of his room, Castiel presses his hand against his pocket, ensuring that his present is still there.
One hand reaches into his pocket and he tries to slip on an easy smile. “I have something for you Dean.”
Castiel is just retrieving the ring as Sam announces his presence loudly. It’s enough to startle an already frazzled Castiel into dropping the ring. He struggles to bend, but manages to manoeuvre himself onto one knee to pick it up.
He’s broken out of his musings by Sam’s exclamation. “Holy shit!”
“Yes.” Is all Dean says.
“Well this is entirely unnecessary.” Sam says flipping open a box with two gold rings. “Because you just proposed to Dean.”
Cass’ nose is almost poking Dean’s eye out but his face is the picture of concentration as he pinches Dean’s nose between his thumb and fore-finger, his other hand covering Dean’s mouth completely.
“Okay. What the hell?” he announces.
The thumb war is explainable, the twister was actually nice and though the dancing was strange, it has nothing on this.
“You two having a staring contest?” Sam wonders.
“No Sam.” Cass explains, picking up the stop watch. “Dean said he could hold his breath for two minutes. I didn’t believe him.”
“Ha-ha! Sucker!” Dean wheezes as the watch beeps.
“Though,” Cass rubs his chin in consideration, “A staring contest is a very good idea Dean.”
Then they both sit pull up a chair and sit, bending forward to rest their elbows on their knees in a way that pushes their faces even closer.
“Let’s begin.” Cass announces.
Dean nods once, then they stare.
By now Sam should be used to it. But as bad as they may be, they’ve never stared at each other for over two minutes before.
Sam is flabbergasted.
Cass is engineering these… games, in order to get closer to Dean. Physically closer.
And Sam wants to know why.
Dean finally wants to admit his feeling to Castiel. Turns out the angel has to say something to him as well.

Dean finds a list of all the things Cass doesn’t like about it. It’s getting closer to Christmas so he wants the angel to stick around. The only logical thing to do is to fix everything on the list.
Castiel feels lonely and unwanted after leaving the bunker. What has always made him happiest. He reads online that you can make yourself happier by making a list about the things you love. Dean is never supposed to find it.
Misunderstandings and Christmas fluff galore.
“Cass…” he trails off, not wanting to be the bearer of bad news, “I don’t think that the chick – your date –it’s not–”
The sound of a soft chuckle comes from beside him. He glances over to Cass. “You think I’m being stood up.” He observes, “I assure you, that’s not the case.” Dean doesn’t want to be a dick. So he keeps quiet and follows Cass’s directions until they reach a small rocky ledge that overlooks the lake they’d passed a few miles back. It’s perfect for watching the sunset. He feels his eyes water even as they scan the area looking for signs of well… anybody. To his chagrin, they’re alone.
Cass had obviously picked this spot out based on the view. And his date hadn’t even shown up. But… this was a long, winding route, maybe just maybe… “Maybe she got lost Cass.”
He’s already wracking his mind for a way to save the angel from that sickly feeling of knowing that you’d been stood up.
Laying a calming hand on his shoulder. “Dean.” He cocks his head, staring at him intently, “I assure you, my date isn’t lost.”
“Then where is she?” he asks, keeping his voice gentle and non-judgmental.
Cass grins, his hand moving to just over Dean’s watch, “He is right here.”
Strange things are afoot.
Sometimes Dean tells him he’s gonna put a load in the washer and then when Sam goes down to check on it… it’s empty.
Sometimes Dean tells him that he’s going for a drive, in Baby, and yet, the GPS says she hasn’t left the garage.
Other times Dean tells him he’s going to visit Donna for a few days but a few months later when they meet up, she tells Dean she hasn’t seen him in almost a year.
The most popular excuse is going out to get laid. Sure, it’s a normal Dean thing. But is it normal that Dean doesn’t do it when Sam is there? Is it normal that when he does ‘head out lookin’ for a hot babe’ that he checks in to a hotel in Lebanon under the name Dean Campbell and doesn’t move for the next few hours?
Initially, Sam had thought Dean was just pissed at him for something or the other. Then he realised. Dean’s actually with someone. Has been for the past year almost and hasn’t deemed Sam fit to bear such knowledge. Initially, he was jealous and a bit left out.
That was initially.

Tumblr drabble inspired by Jackie's amazing art and my new Destiel shirt.
Castiel realizes he is going to have to be incredibly straight with Dean for Dean to get just how gay he is for him.
Being Rivals while lovers meant knowing exactly how to push each other's buttons, despite the agreement to keep the career and the relationship as separate things when in the field.
But after a month without seeing each other, added to the need to push said buttons, the tension reaches a point of no return, and the referee has no choice but to engage in strong measures.
Dean wants to surprise Cas. Sam helps. Fast forward to Team Free Will in an amusement park, followed by Destiel shenanigans.
(P.S. Sleepy cuddles ahead.)
Castiel finally tries to kiss Dean, and refuses to give up on him even after Dean pushes him away. Wanting to finally figure out what's been building between him and Cas for all these years, Dean agrees to let go of his fear just long enough to entertain the idea of him and Cas being more than friends. He didn't count on the fact that Cas knows him well enough to erase his hesitation a little bit more with each passing day... and he quickly realizes he doesn't really have to change all that much to have everything he never knew he wanted.
Sister Jo, Anael, is making a power play for the throne in Heaven and makes a deal with the Winchesters to keep Jack from connecting with Lucifer or making a claim of his own. Her snide comments cause Cas and Dean to address the nature of their relationship.
Dean celebrates his birthday with his family for the first time in his adult life and is amazed with moves and surprises from someone he loves.
He can't help but open himself to the declarations and give in.
Dean's hair is a mess, but thankfully— his new apartment is just around the corner from Castiel's Barber Shop.

Sam gives Dean and Castiel some privacy after Cas has been returned. They finally talk about their feelings and Cas helps Dean find a way to say the words he can't.
