Summary
Lance wanted to run. He wanted to burst through the doors, take his lion and seclude himself on a far-off moon where no one would find him
“ENOUGH.” Allura slammed her hands down on the table, silencing the Coalition with her booming voice “Complacency has no place in war. If you want to lie down as Zarkon’s army nibbles at our territory bit by bit, then they will have ample time to devour everything in their wake. Wait until your supply lines are compromised and your children are starving before you preach to me about how thin our forces are spread. We cannot give in." Allura took a deep breath, “We put it to a vote. All in favor of abandoning the System say ‘aye’,” Half of the Coalition sounded off, “All in favor of taking action?” The next half sounded off along with Allura.
“Lance?” Allura’s calm voice shocked him out of his boredom, “You are our tiebreaker, what do you say?”
Right. Voting.
“Aye, as you said, there’s no complacency in war.” He raised his right hand and gave the Coalition a winning smile, “We can’t back down without a fight, now can we?”

Summary
Zarkon wants to know more about the chief researcher on the Rift project, but he has protocol to consider. When she asks for his direct involvement, he is only too glad to offer her whatever assistance the Galra Empire can provide—but is that the best way to get to know someone?
This was originally written for Come Back For Me: A Zarkon/Haggar Zine. Threshold Effect, from the same zine, is this story's (much more grim) companion piece.
