Summary
I know, logically, sensibly, that Nightingale isn’t a monk.
But it’s still a shock when we pop to the British Museum to ask one of their resident Assyriologists some questions about a cuneiform tablet found under one of the benches in the House of Commons – and my boss starts eye-fucking the expert.
Or, five of Nightingale’s relationships Peter stumbles across without meaning to, and one that he dives into head first.

Summary
There's no such thing as a normal case when you work for the Folly, of course, but there's still such a thing as an unusual one. Say, one where you watch a nature spirit make your boss cry and in the process you find out he has feelings for you. Even by Folly standards, that's a hell of a day at work.

“I’m going to take on a new apprentice,” Thomas announces over dinner one night, in a tone that suggests he has simply ordered a new suit and not made a decision that is going to severely impact both of their lives.

Some nights you just don't want to fall asleep. You want to look out of the window and look at the night sky and the street lights. You love the peace and silence of the night. You want to enjoy the moment.
That's how David feels this night. He never wants this moment to end. -

The woman smiled and looked up at me through her eyelashes, and I experienced deja vu of the first time David had tried to flirt with me after reading two pages of a popular ladies pamphlet that circulated around Casterbrook and thinking he knew what was what.

Summary
During August 1966, the exact day of which escapes me, and to the consternation of the Metropolitan Police, who were expecting me to investigate a series of murders that week, (that they may or may not try to get assigned as Falcon, depending on how occult the occult graffiti managed to be), I went to bed and awoke the next morning noticeably younger. This caused deep discomfort within the rank and file and, noticeably, the commissioner, who I believed thought that my predicted soon-to-be-death was his only consolation in dealing with all that magic nonsense. Regardless, on that day, when I awoke and began to age in the reverse, the only thing that surprised me was that it hadn’t happened sooner.

Summary
“Peter Grant”, I introduced myself, as my brain finally woke up and classified the guy in front of me as Falcon-relevant. I reached out to him. He squeezed my hand hard, still smiling.
It’s Christmas time in London and Peter is struggling with whether he should finally listen to those strange feelings he recently had towards Nightingale. As if asking your over-100-year-old boss and mentor on a date wasn’t hard enough, someone shows up at the Folly’s door to complicate Peter’s life even more.
At this point, he is sure to be hated by life itself. -
