Before Weapon X, Wade Wilson loved being an Omega. Before he killed Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker loved being an Alpha.
Now, someone is replicating the Green Goblin's old experiments and trying to transform Betas and Omegas into Alphas. Peter failed both Norman and Harry Osborn; it's his responsibility to stop whoever has picked up where they left off. Wade missed a few people when cleaning house at Department K, and he knows that this project might not have gotten off the ground if he'd been more careful.
Can Spider-Man and Deadpool work together to solve this case without getting into a quip-off every time they meet up? Will they have to face their issues, or will they be able to conveniently ignore their emotional trauma and queer angst? Just how many times will White and Yellow catch Wade ogling the Spider-butt?

“Anybody got a plan?” Peter asked the Four, turning to Reed and Sue.
Reed frowned. “Maybe. But I’ll need a distraction.”
He got his distraction. Because suddenly Bubblegum Bitch started blaring out of the speakers of the ad screens around the square. Otto abruptly stopped his speech.
“What the fuck is this?” Johnny asked, his mouth next to Peter’s ear and suddenly so close Peter jolted in surprise.
“Don’t ask me,” he replied.
And then Ben Reilly swung into the square with a whoop and kicked Norman in the face.
Or the F4 and Peter are in need of some help fighting villains, and Peter’s clones make a reappearance to help out.

Peter peeked his head out of the med bay, and looked out into the hall to see if anybody was there. When he didn’t see anyone, he nodded to himself and walked down the hall, but when he turned the corner he collided right into someone, who’s hands went right to his chest to push him out of the way.
“Hey, watch it asshole!” The guy said, and Peter glared at him, only now realizing the guy looked familiar. Blue eyes, blonde hair, sharp jaw, fancy and probably really expensive clothes? Oh yeah, he knew that face. Hell, everybody knew that face.
The face that belonged to none other than Johnny Storm.

It looks like it crawled right out of a storybook -- all soft green hues with cute little blue and pink spots and big button eyes, no bigger than a baby carrot.
Logically, he knows this is weird. That he shouldn’t keep it. But it’s just… so cute. Unbearably so. MJ said she raised a caterpillar to its butterfly stage once, is this really that different?
Keep it, his spider-sense urges. Keep it. Keep it. Keep it. Keep me.
And hey, if his spider-sense says so...
An accident at the Sanctum Sanctorum leaves Peter with a tiny, squishy caterpillar that has a real appetite for his blood. But he doesn't mind, really! It's not setting off his spider-sense, and Karen's honestly overreacting when she says that it's somehow affecting his brain chemistry...
So what? All his brain's telling him is that Squishy's the cutest dang pet he's ever had, is that really so bad?

"Would you be satisfied if you could have a vague idea of what I look like ?"
Johnny thinks it over. "Are you suggesting we play Guess Who ?"
Spidey chuckles at the mention of the board game. They're close enough that Johnny can feel it shake his shoulders. It sends trills up the blond's chest.
"No, I meant..."
A hand goes to grab Johnny's wrist —the one that is not thrown around Spidey— to guide his hand up outside of the covers and draw it closer to the vigilante until the tip of his fingers land on plush skin. Spidey lets go of him, and Johnny finds himself trailing against what he recognizes as a cheekbone.
"Oh," he marvels. "Yes, that's— that could work," and he feels a smile move Spidey's cheek.

Ben Parker sighed as he looked up into The Thing's eyes, so expressively human in spite of the rest of his rocky appearance.
“My fifteen-year-old nephew--who's practically my own little boy!--” he choked out with a tight voice, “h-he can't pass for human anymore. He's scared, and he's isolated, and he just needs someone else to talk to! Someone who can understand. Please."
Some alternate realities are unrecognizable, and some are indistinguishable. This one lies somewhere in between.
Peter Parker's life was derailed when he mutated into a strange human/spider hybrid, and he knows that's not the way things went down for him in other realities. Still, he's determined to forge a new path and make the best of it. Sometimes "the friends we made along the way" really is the greatest treasure anyone could ask for.
