Hubert never liked him. He didn't enjoy having to clean up his messes, and he didn't like him on the days he got to visit, he didn't like him on the days he had private meetings with Edelgard, and he especially didn't like him on the days he would get invited to meetings, when he got too close to Ferdinand, when his welcomes would be a bit too friendly and Ferdinand being that bright, optimistic, naive pocket of sunshine would not set boundaries for himself.
Yes, those are the days Hubert's hate would seethe through his teeth, his killing instincts set aflame, burning silently inside him. A day like today is the kind of day he hated most. But what could he do? After all, Metodey was an incredible assassin and as much as he hated to admit it yet, a valuable, yet incredibly annoying asset to the Empire, perhaps, even more annoying than the prime minister himself.

Summary
The war in Fodlan is over, Dimitri has risen to his place as king, with Marianne at his side. Things go back to relative normalcy as everyone who has survived the war resumes life, and attempts to navigate this new and changing world. Garreg Mach is full of refugees, bandits roam the country-side, and Dimitri has grand plans for reform in Fodlan. Claude reigns in Almyra, Petra in Brigid, and for once in seven years, things look to be shaping up. Summary
Byleth is used to her father's job causing them to move suddenly, and has to start her senior year at a new school, Garreg Mach. Typically a loner, she doesn't expect to make new friends at a private academy, where everyone seems to already know everyone, but on the first day, she takes an interest in Hubert, while his friend Edelgard takes an interest in her.
Byleth quickly finds herself growing close to both of them, unsure of her developing feelings for Hubert. She doesn't have any romantic experience, and Hubert is not only a strange guy, but also so close to Edelgard that it's hard to figure out what their relationship actually is. Not to mention her confusion where her own relationship with Edelgard is concerned...Amidst all of this, there are rumors floating around town regarding a strange series of killings. People say that the attacks look like the work of a vampire, and as Byleth's classmates begin to buy into these rumors, they start rumors of their own, involving one of Byleth's new friends. Hubert is strange, sure, but...a vampire? She doesn't want to believe it, because, after all, vampires don't exist.

“It is my duty.” Ferdinand hissed out, getting into a fighting stance with his sword at the ready, He knew it didn’t work, but that didn’t mean he was going to give up so easily.
“Hmm, if you wish for blissful ignorance to be your end, then so be it.” Heavy fabric fell to the floor and the rat man was no longer restricted by the long coat to dance.
