    Summary

Margaret Hale had never envisioned herself moving to the harbour town of Liverpool.
    She did.
Margaret had never spent time trying to find a rich husband in need of a wife.
Mr Thornton did spent an awful amount of time falling for the proud indifferent daughter of Mr Hale.
Margaret Hale was certain she would forever detest merchants and everything Northern.
    She was wrong.

AKA the Jane Austen-esque regency AU no one asked for. Rating may go up.

    Summary

Basically the Napoleonic Wars on the backs of dragons, plus all the other normal artillery and stuff. This is where Frederick is involved in a mutiny, but John already knows who he is, and gets forced into helping by his commander, Mr. Bell, the dragon he captains, and Margaret Hale. Bell, of course, knows exactly what he's doing, and maybe if Dixon would leave the two ALONE for a minute, Bell's goddaughter might actually fall in love.

a.k.a. In which John Thornton does a great deal of kissing.

If the missive had met its mark: What would have been if the stone had struck John Thornton instead of Margaret Hale on that fateful day at Marlborough Mills? Summary

Two years after her mother dies Margaret Hale follows her father, Richard Hale, from Durham, North Carolina to small-town Pennsylvania. Richard's new job teaching at the local community college put him and his daughter in contact with John Thornton, a local entrepreneur looking to finish his bachelor's degree.

Margaret, having just transitioned from a high-profile criminal defense attorney to public defender, thinks she has the world figured out. She knows the current American criminal justice system is broken, the vast majority of the world's evils come from capitalism, and John Thornton is definitely an ass.

John Thornton would rather eat glass than listen to the privileged and out-of-touch daughter of his new professor explain to him how the world works. At least, that's what he'd say if anyone asked.

This is a modern retelling of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South set in America, all characters belong to her.

The only reason Margaret could think of for imposing on Mr. Thornton in such a way, was that she had been more affected by the blow to the head the previous day than she'd known.

Why else would she simply not tell Henry Lennox the truth of the matter? The continuation of the charade, however, she cannot blame upon concussion.

Or, Margaret accidentally tells the world she's dating Mr. John Thornton, who is ecstatic.
