Tim clicked the recorder on, and both of them ignored the shiver its familiar rasp sent down their spines.
“Letter from Robert Smirke, August 23, 1815. Taken from, ah, a document which was found in a box marked Highly Confidential: Do Not Open Under Any Circumstances, but it’s pretty old, so we figure whoever cared is probably dead anyway,” he said, shrugging. “It was interesting and we’re stuck in a horrible hell job, so, like, whatever. Who’s gonna stop me?”
“Nice,” said Melanie, high-fiving him.

Summary
Jonah likes direction, for having it means he doesn't have to second-guess himself. Correct his speech and his bearing. Wonder if he's doing the things correctly that others have been learning since boyhood.
Jonah likes order. Rules and guidelines. He likes the world to make sense, even if that's in the space of a room; the span of an evening. The collar goes on, and he knows what is expected of him.
And Jonah likes being the centre of attention.

Summary
A deadly cursed myth and a young architect.
- After consideration, Jonah spoke again, slightly softer this time. “So, you know of the being living here and you still show no sign of fear or took any precaution. Why would you approach a cursed being like a Gorgon just like this? One single look would turn you into stone just like all the other fools on this field around us. Aren’t you afraid?” And as he spoke the black waves on Jonah’s head, that had before been braided into a crown braid, unfurled and revealed themselves to be pitch black but shimmering snakes instead of hair.
There was a reaction, and Jonah was almost sad that he couldn’t see it but he felt that it was nothing he had to worry about. From the other’s voice when he answered Jonah was sure he heard fear but also something else, maybe curiosity? - -

“Don’t get overzealous, gentlemen,” Smirke lifted Jonah’s chin with a finger. “He’s here to be an ashtray, not an orifice.”
Jonah picked up the cigar cutter from beside his knee, smirking slightly.
“Does he know how to present?” Mordechai asked.
“Try him out,” Smirke suggested.

Summary
“Robert—” Jonah starts, but he finds he cannot summon the right words in the proper order. How to share the long nights of horror? The days of frustrating, futile study? The constant thrum of terrible knowledge, the promise of oblivion on the horizon? “I am… afraid,” he says plainly and unsteadily, before taking a shuddering breath. “All of the time.”

Summary
The street is not quite empty yet, as the night is still young. The dim lamplight makes the rain-soaked street glisten. It would have been possible for Robert’s delay to be a result of the hazardous slick on the road, but his office is not far enough from Jonah’s house to make up for so much lost time. Jonah catches a few windows turning dark as their inhabitants turn in for the night.
The people who remain outside are splashing around in drunken stupors or walking quickly, umbrellas above their heads and shawls pulled tight to keep out the cold. Jonah pushes further and his sight extends to the building that houses Robert’s office. Jonah climbs the stairs as quickly as he can, his breath faltering at the effort. He is outside of Robert’s office and he can hear voices.
He pushes but the door won’t give.

Summary
The relationship between Jonah Magnus and Robert Smirke was maybe more than history and the Eye would show you.
But that doesn't mean that it would change anything about the outcome."As he stepped closer Maxwell Rayner noticed him and introduced him to one of London’s rising architects Robert Smirke. They talked quite a while, even after Rayner already left and the room began to get emptier. Smirke introduced Jonah to his ideas on how to revolutionise architecture with classical designs but a new way to beat statics. The young man, who had a special interest in the macabre and supernatural listened intensely and with every minute he talked to the other man he felt like he found someone he didn’t knew he was searching for. “It’s a pity all these Greek stories are so tragic,” said Robert, making a quick glance around the room. They were alone, and he linked his arm with Jonah’s, and Jonah let him. “We’ll do better, won’t we?”
Jonah nodded, but his eyes were fixed on Apollo’s face, and he seemed to be lost in thought.
