    Summary

He watches the internal struggle with full interest.

Billy’s a quiet person naturally and they enjoy expressing themselves through acts over words, but George has been trying to get Billy to ask, hell demand what they want the last few times they’ve done this. It was now or never. He knows Billy isn’t happy, that George is a means to an end – one he’s more than happy to fill – and he really does care for Billy, but he wants them to be as happy and confident as they should be.

Unorthodox way of doing that, sure, but George has always been a bit of an eccentric anyway.

    Summary

There had been five bodies, and George remembers - cannot forget - the shape they'd traced, the inverted constellation across the pale rock. Armitage had not shot two men.

Scenes from the Mutineers' camp, and from the past, from Oxfordshire, from Eton. Lieutenant Hodgson has regrets, but can still recall a perfect moment.
