A peculiar, sour look crossed Loki’s face before his expression smoothed. “It is now tradition for the initiate to celebrate his newfound strength before he leaves the next morning on his long journey. I imagine you will find no shortage of offers on this most auspicious of nights. I will take my leave, brother, and you may tell me who to summon to your side.”
Thor didn’t think he was imagining the bitterness that laced Loki’s words.
“Don’t go,” he said, still feeling as if he was floating in his own body. “Stay.”

It didn't blow my mind but I definitely had a good time.
Lomonaaeren can't write bad books! I say it everytime and I mean it. That being said, it has issues of dropped plot points and becoming a lil meandering and muddled in the middle.
It doesn't feel detract from the story while reading it, tho, which is action packed and makes me constantly wanna know what happens next. The characters are great, the plot is fun, I was loving every single part that I read! Orion's POVs is refrshing and genuinely funny. It's cool to read from such a different POV, and really gives the book its heart, its main strength. I adore seeing a powerful Harry, my absolute fav thing, and he becomes decidedly more and more Slytherin, growing into his power and becoming more aware and deliberate in his actions, which is fun and enthralling. The relationship between Orion and Harry is so soft and sweet, and fills me with so much warmth. ❤️
Overall, just fun and lovely.

Back at school, things change one morning in September, when he and three other students wake up with the memories of the four Hogwarts founders in their heads. They don't know why they've returned, or how it happened, but they know one thing - they changed the Wizarding World before, and they're going to do it again. Bookmarker's Notes
This book was fun to read! There's minimal angst or bad feelings or any of that. It's not just fluff either, though. It's focused primarily on plot, and Harry and Cedric being hopelessly in love.
The story is about the four hogwarts founders memories coming "awakening" in Harry, Cedric, Luna and Neville. They don't just have vague impressions or anything of a different life - they ARE those people: their magic, their memories, their personalities, their abilities, their souls. Harry is as much Salazar as he is Harry. Neither is overshadowed completely but 80 years vs roughly 15 is going to show, too. It's very cool to see, the way the characters interact with each other, their bonds, dynamics, understanding of magic etc. They want to restore Hogwarts and the wizarding world to its intended glory, and it is a fight against yes, Voldemort, but also Dumbledore and the entire society and mindset of certain things, including the prejudice and misunderstanding against Slytherins. They are very capable wixen and they plan to use that to their advantage.
The relationship between Cedric and Harry could be described as an established relationship, realistically. There isn't much ease in it. It goes from zero to hero, to ultimate devotion. Salazar and Helga were together and literally have their souls bound together in magic, in love. The relationship is immediately established but gains added depth as they fall in love with each other's new selves as much as their old ones, in a sense. The love in general, though, is so sweet and lovely and there is no awkward teenage confusion and angst and miscommunications and pining. It is the opposite of a slow burn or slow romance. Just a very very healthy relationship. Which is always fantastic to see!!!
Cedric also had some gender issues, as he has 80 years of memories as a witch vs 17 as a wizard. During the book, he learns to navigate his feelings and thoughts on it all, going from some confusion and body dysphoria to becoming comfortable in his skin, and happy with himself. His own person. It's heartwarming to see and I think it's handled really well.
Overall, the book is lovely. It lacks excitement and that riveting edge of thrill that makes it hard to put down, but it also isn't boring or unnecessarily complicated or angst filled for the sake of it. It's a pretty decent balance, overall, and the pacing is very good. It makes for a fun and comfortable read, and I enjoyed it.

Bookmarker's Notes
This book is a classic soul mates / soul bond / bonding fic, in many ways. The world essentially revolves around them, and it is kind of staggering how important it is. The bond is sweet and beautifully portrayed and lovely. I also appreciate that the bond is a GOOD thing and is kept, rather than in most books where they get rid of it to be more... idk natural together or whatever. It's magic! Magic bonds are cool as hell! And this book agrees, which I like.
The whole story is a HUGE canon divergence in many ways, tho some core ways are the same. Tom is certainly not a good person, but he also isn't a Dark Lord. Harry grew up with his parents (mostly) but was still abused, in some sense, and in a different way. There are so many changes that it feels fascinating, but they're introduced organically and enough stays the same that it never feels overwhelming.
The bond between them is amazing and sweet. Its great to see the characters and how they are just polar opposites in the beginning but slowly start getting to know each other and both of them changing and becoming better versions of themselves as a result. Both providing what the other needs, fighting and loving and just... it's great. Obviously, this is a big aspect of the book.
Another big aspect is that the Order is a cult. Never explicitly stated as such but seriously, it's a cult, and a lot of the plot arcs and undercurrents revolve around that. The kind of intense indoctrination and the difficulty in breaking free of that, the scars it leaves behind, the internal conflict between what you believed as gospel and the truth, the fanatics and how they literally CAN'T see otherwise: their minds have just been too warped, the grooming of kids to become part of it while their minds are so malleable, the isolation from others, deliberately cutting off contact and sowing distrust to prevent them from contacting others, the terrorism and hypocrisy, the misplaced and frankly wrong sense of moral justice.... it's all there and it's all very very very interesting, although quite angsty, ofc. The book is at the very least half psychological in that regard, coming to terms of what the truth is and how the cult has affected their members.
There are other plot points, like family issues and politics and internal anguish and all sorts of things like sprinkling some Fate and prophecy stuff in. However, I think the pacing in the book is really off. I think it was written freeform, yet it didn't end up being the best of ideas. There's not a single part of the book that isnt brilliant, but I do feel like if the book was 100k words more, let's say, at least, that the additional scenes would round out the book more, pick up and complete some of the plot points that feel dropped or incomplete (which is a pity because I was curious about them and they seemed really cool), have the ending be less jarring, round out some of the characters more and allow growth for them to happen more and better (since it doesn't happen nearly as much as I'd like). It feels like a lot is happening between the scenes that you're reading but you don't know WHAT and you get the idea but it would've been much more satisfying if they just had the scenes there and rounded out the story better, because it honestly kind of feels like I'm just missing scenes.
Of course, the book is written by Lomonaaeren and they're my fav author on here so.... it's naturally still brilliant and I would recommend.

(reread 16/01/24)
Lomonaaeren once again making gold. This fic is glorious, dark and thrilling. Genuinely one of my favorite fics. When they get to explore a new type of magic, really let loose on the MAGIC, it's so rich and enchanting. That's where they truly shine, imo.
It may be short, but never once does it feel lacking or rushed. It starts off strong, and only gets better, with such an amazing ending, and had me absolutely hooked the entire time.
It's warned as being quite dark, and I will say that it definitely is a Dark Harry fic, with a lot of violence and extremely dubious morality. But that doesnt mean the story itself is dark, emotionally or tone-wise. In that sense, and many others, I didnt find it dark - tho i love dark stories so I wouldn't have minded if it WAS, but the vibe isn't dark, it's more mysterious and thrilling.
I really enjoyed this fic. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's like dark chocolate.

(reread 17/01/24)
Probably one of the shortest fics I've read but while it may be bite-sized its filled with flavour.
Lomonaaeren really gets to shine, once again, as they write and explore magic - a new insanely fascinating type of magic that feels so unique and fresh, while also being captivating and sooo rich. It's, as always, slightly OP, but, as always, in a fun way. It feels like it lays out the boundaries of magic only for it to show you how marvelous it is to break them.
This is an awesome take on both Harry and Tom. Harry is, in alot of ways, very OOC, but he would be since he grew up as not the prophecy kid, with his parents alive, but still pretty neglected and let down by his family. Still looking for approval, for family, for someone who believes in him. And then there's Tom, who is an absolute bastard but an obsessive one in his devotion and stubbornness. And Harry puts him in his place. Through that, we end up with something so heartfelt.
It's really good, a fun read, and it makes you feel a bit high on the excitement of the magic. Love it.

Bookmarker's Notes
So. This book is a wild ride and worth every second.
It starts off a lil dark and grim and edgy, so it might be a bit difficult to get into. The protagonist is just... VERY anti-hero, and whilst I love that, it might be a bit much at first, especially if you don't know what happens. It's a bit of a dark beginning, but what you don't know is that is always the darkest it is ever going to be. Because this book is the furthest thing from dark, it is shining and bright and amazing, and gets more so every single chapter.
Firstly, this is a Harry (Eliza) x Tom pairing, NOT a Voldemort pairing. The parallels that run, especially early on, between Eliza and Tom is VERY evident. More and more so. It may seem a bit heavy handed and possibly feels like its preditable, but it isn't. It is not predicatable. The parallels are there for a reason. A big theme running in the book is a nature vs nurture type thing. There are many many many points made in this regard. There are real life studies mentioned, and it's deeply interesting. I, myself, have looked a lot into it previously, so it resonated with me a lot and made me so happy to see a lot of those points brought up, and shining a new and fresh light on canon events (and lots of non canon lol) to show a different side to it.
"Children are not born monsters."
Eliza, like Tom in many aspects, IS violent. She's violent and bloodthirsty and has very little qualms about murder. She is a sadist and is vicious and can be cruel and cutting. She has no remorse. She is a master manipulator and excels at everything she puts her mind to, for better or worse. She's insanely powerful and is never afraid to use that power against people. None of that changes. She IS those things. She doesnt suddenly become a nice and good person. But. But.But that is not all she is. She is so much more. I dont wanna spoil anything there so let's just say that this story has the most immense and beautiful character growth I have ever seen. Its over days and weeks and years, over hundreds and thousands and hundreds of thousands of words. She is, of course, the books focus, but Tom obviously is too. And both of them GROW. Not change, not really. Their cores and traits don't change. They grow. They become so much more. It's not obvious. It's not quick. You don't even really notice it, until suddenly you think back and you're like woah, wtf!?
And it's not just them that grows, its their relationship and also her relationships with everyone in the story. Its this slow and steady building. Layers upon layers upon layers. Her friendships, her chosen family, the people she surrounds herself with. Its beautiful.
The relationship between her and Tom is masterfully done. Over the years, it is this constant, steady growth. It feels inevitable, it feels like "of course". It is like there could never be anyone else. There is no hormones involved. No, "wow so hot omg wanna sleep with them" that jet starts the emotional side, which is what the majority of fanfics often are. No. They slowly fall more and more in love with each other without them even noticing (though, of course, everyone else certainly does notice.)
Of course, they're both emotionally repressed messes and bad at feelings tho so expect some mild angst at the end when they start figuring shit out, but they pull through beautifully.
This book may start off dark and gritty and a bit sad and might leave you feeling like you have a bad taste in your mouth, and yet slowly but steadily, without me even damn noticing, becomes happy. It becomes so happy and bright and sweet and funny. It's heart warming and interesting and that tonal shift is HUGE. Also, it only ever gets better, never worse. Ever. Some may find that idea boring, but I don't. Its not like bad things don't happen, but as a general rule, it always just gets better and better. By the end, you basically get chapters of fluff and epilogue and just happy.
Nothing feels forced, there isn't really any plot twists, everything is built slowly and surely and beautifully.
This book is great. I love me an overpowered (in every goddamn way), complicated, dark protagonist, but still one that enchants me. Plus, a book that has dark elements but isn't gonna depress me. This book NAILED that.
Just. Ah. Perfection.

Harry isn’t the Boy-Who-Lived, but his parents still died, and Albus Dumbledore, concerned that Death Eaters might seek the boy’s death, cast a powerful charm on him to make wizards ignore him before Harry was left with the Dursleys. Except, with the Elder Wand in play, the charm was far too powerful, and made others essentially forget Harry existed when not directly interacting with him. Sorted into Ravenclaw at Hogwarts, Harry lives a contented life with no one either loving or hating him…until the charm breaks on his seventeenth birthday, and he’s suddenly plunged directly into the middle of a living world at war.

A masterpiece of a short story.
Lomonaaeren really got to shine with this, showing off deeply intricate magic systems in an enthralling and riveting way, with some spots of humor and sweetness to round off this gem.
Adore. ❤️

Derek Hale barely believes he deserves a pack of his own, let alone a council-trained emissary, a nemeton, or a mate.
(He's about to get all of that.)
