Summary
It's been years since Zuko became the Fire Lord, and he's spent a lot of time trying to be a better person. Still brooding, at least he's more calm, self-reflective, and isn't actively trying to destroy the world.
Barley, on the other hand, has done no self-reflecting nor does she have the desire to. She's angry and brazen and her plans usually consists of: fight now, think later.
Which is exactly how she winds up in prison, and then in Zuko's care.
When they meet, it's like gas to a flame, a forest of dead leaves set ablaze, like a fire to a field of grain.

Summary
Three years ago, Agni saved Zuko’s life by gifting him a Spirit Blessing.
Sixteen years ago, Tui tied their life to Sokka’s.
Now on the run, with the crux of it all being the Avatar, the lives of both Spirit-Touched boys seem to keep aligning.
(Or; Sun Spirit Zuko and Moon Spirit Sokka go on their canon typical adventures but now with more PTSD and magical power ups)

"Things used to be simpler. Worse. But simpler."
***
Years later, the world is still struggling to find its footing - and so is Katara. Old traditions and visions stand in the way of new developments and a healthier, happier world. Sometimes, people themselves stand in their own way, too.
Katara leaves after years by the Avatar's side, to find her own way. She goes to a place she has been avoiding for a while now."Why and how that place became Zuko’s residence was a question she has been mulling over for several weeks now. "
***
Fully canon-compliant until the very end of ATLA, and then I ignore every post-canon thing with a few exceptions. Katara deserved better. Zuko/Katara made more sense narratively. This is my canon now.

Summary
Now officially part of the Gaang, Zuko, alongside his uncle; Azula; Mai; and Ty Lee, traveled the Earth Kingdom in search of Aang’s earthbending master. But in war, things weren’t always as clear-cut as they seemed. Sometimes, the good guys could be bad, just as Aang, Katara, and Sokka had learned that the “bad guys” could be good.
Zuko did not expect to need to protect Aang from scheming, Earth Kingdom politicians who wanted to use him as little more than a living weapon. He probably should have. This was why Sokka and Azula made all the plans.
Also, the Earth Kingdom sort of sucked, in general. A landlocked ocean spirit was a decidedly unhappy ocean spirit, and Zuko missed the water almost as much as he missed his crew. And his eel hound. Agni and La, he missed Suika.

Heavily Based off of Love Finds A Way by ShootingStar13.
In the world of Avatar, people are born with soulmarks, marks on the wrist of citizens dictating who they're destined to fall in love with. Most people have one, while some are born without one, and some people are born with two. This is the story of a young prince, named Zuko, a prince born with two soulmarks, each from a different nation.
One mark, a sword and a boomerang and the other a golden fan.

Summary
Sokka had avoided relationships for the past three years, and he didn't see a future where he ever tried again. But when his sister's bachelorette party forced him into a drag bar, where he met a gorgeous masked beauty with fuck me eyes, Sokka's long dead libido was suddenly thrown into horny disarray. But the girl was elusive, secretive, and she didn't even want to give him her real name. When he found himself in a car chase on the first date that led to Zuko breaking things off before they even started, it became apparent to Sokka that there was more to the situation than met the eye. The only question was, was it something he could handle if it meant he could keep seeing Zuko?

Five years after the war is over and Zuko hasn't stopped working a single day. The Omega, having taken on a self sacrificing attitude has already given up on all of his hopes and dreams. It's worked out for the betterment of his people but at what cost to Zuko's sanity? Things are thrown into disarray though when Bato shows up in Sokka's stead for trade negotiations, stating that the Gaang decided to go on a trip around the world without telling him because they thought he'd be too busy to come. They were probably right, but it still stung.

Summary
After more than three years of carefully playing along with their farce of a mission, the impossible happened: the Avatar returned. Now Zuko and his crew would be forced to participate in the hunt for the last airbender, but they had become uniquely skilled at committing treason unnoticed. Having to follow the kid around hardly meant that they needed to capture him.
“He got away again,” they’d groan like particularly exhausted participants of a spirit tale. “We’ll get him next time.” And really, the Fire Lord had written Zuko off as a failure years ago. He wouldn’t be surprised that Zuko was failing at this too.
It wasn’t like anyone else was doing a better job.

Summary
Crown Prince Zuko discovers his bending when he is five and his sister is three, and she’s the first person he tells, juggling a flame while she admires its beauty. When he shows the rest of his family, his mother’s chopsticks clatter to the table, and when Zuko looks to his father, his eyes are wide with shock.
His grandfather speaks first, the head of the table, and approval runs thick through his tone: “Well, look at that. A true prodigy, wouldn’t you agree, Ozai?”
“Indeed,” he hums.
//
(Princess Azula won’t summon her first flame—a guttering, timid thing—until she’s seven.)
//
Or, in a world where Zuko is the prodigy and Azula is the one banished, destiny shifts accordingly.

Summary
“Why… You told them we were together.” It’s more of an accusation than he means it to be, but Sokka doesn’t waver.
“Do you normally kiss strangers and then just act like friends?” And he’s so fucking nonchalant that Zuko doesn’t know how to respond.
“No?”
“Well then,” Sokka laughs a little under his breath, hands over another polaroid but Zuko’s too busy staring at him to look at it. “I guess you’re my festival boyfriend, Zu. If that’s alright with you.”
Another picture is added to his hand, and Zuko asks, “But what does that mean?”
