Kokichi Ouma always thought he was alone in this world. Every day was a struggle to survive, but he never let it show. He didn't want this world to change him, he just wanted to be who he was and not let it destroy his pure heart. Life was hard, until one day he met Shuichi Saihara. Shuichi was the biggest Danganronpa fan he'd ever met and even though he had obsessive tendencies and mild anger issues, he cared for Kokichi and never did anything to hurt him. Kokichi calmed and grounded him, while he helped Kokichi with his serious anxiety. Alone they found life hard, but together they find that the other has something they lack.
This is their story, starting from just before season 51, all the way to the aftermath of season 53...

If you're expecting a normal Danganronpa fanfic with slice of life and all that, that's not what this fic is about, sorry. I can't stress this enough. This is a lighter take on a detective RPG game.
Major Spoilers for Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, slight spoilers for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, and Major spoilers for Disco Elysium.
It is highly recommended that you play through or watch a playthrough of Disco Elysium first, as my description of the locations SUCK. I may decide to put in sprinkles of images throughout the fic, but don't count on it.
Kaede will be INCREDIBLY out of character for the first day (as I have to go through all the main character did), and some dialogue may sound quite out of character as well. I'll try my best to write their personalities as perfectly as I can, but it might not sound...like them.

First of all, you gotta admit, my titling skills are A+ worthy. Second of all, this will contain spoilers for the entire series, mainly V3 because they're my main cast here. This will include ships and some head canons I personally have, but hopefully they don't dictate the story too much, but I hope you respect my choices here.
Anyways, as for the story itself, this takes place in a VR/Hope's Peak Academy AU where everyone is alive. However, not everyone is awake at the beginning of the fic, so some people will be absent until after a few chapters chapters. Since this is beyond what I'm used to as far as writing goes, I will be adding written scenes, as well as a plot (w o w .) All the characters, including those from THH and GD are in their first year and similar ages, that way we can have the same cast for all three years. Also, if you see parallels between the canon series, it is probably intentional. Kiibo is also human, but that will be mentioned in the story in case you didn't read the description.
