Summary
Starting with an occurrence shortly before John's stay in Afghanistan, this takes part mainly after the events there, when John is back in London.
Sooner or later, John meets Sherlock and is immediately faszinated by the intelligent and good looking consulting detective. But will his growing feelings be returned or will Sherlock get bored of him?
With these and more questions going on in his head, John will life the time of his live together with a certain consulting detective, who's intelligent is only outdone by his lack of human emotions. Or is it really?

1885-1886. Even being a thousand miles apart cannot stop the troubles piling up for these two. Watson reaps the whirlwind of a less than advisable decision concerning a forgetful female visitor to his bed, while for Holmes it is on to questionable statues, unhappy Vikings, painted sheep, dangerous strippers, a much-desired trophy, faked deaths at sea, verbal legerdemain, a shaven swimmer, a terrifying woman in a kilt and nuts in a field. A gruesome case showing what happens when the justice system fails is followed by extremes of acting, street-fighters and large noses, before the detective encounters one of the most terrifying men that he will meet in his long and illustrious career. Once he has stopped shaking there is another meeting with an old friend, a trained killer, an exploding barn (complete with an unwelcome familial encounter) and a mistaken journalist who really goes too far before Holmes can return to London and a happy reunion with the man he.... values as a friend.

Sherlock Holmes would never understand why people could be interested in dull things like emotions and friends in a world which also contained microbes, cryptography, and the great mystery of internal organs. That final mystery, in fact, was what at handed him in the psychologist’s office for long dull tests and questions in the first place.
“Our son tortured a cat, and then tried to burn down the house,” Mrs. Holmes insists.
Sherlock sighs, muttering under his breath, “The cat was dead. It was necropsy, not torture, and the fire clearly got out of hand. How many times?”
Sherlock swears that he will do whatever he has to in order not to be the cause of his mother’s tears ever again. He will become someone else. Someone who is capable of friendships and whatever else normal people like.

Thus, when one of their main targets, a hitman known as the colonel Moran, finally makes a mistake, MI6's director jumps on the chance. Moreover, the hitman might reveal usefull for them...
