The thing is- the thing is, Scorpia expects challenges, okay? Her whole life has been made up of them. Suspicious glances and muttered whispers and long days spent training more than the normal recruit. The Horde wants perfection. The Horde wants loyalty. The Horde wants to know that Scorpia isn't some Princess traitor.
But the thing is that the Rebellion is. Ridiculously well-planned at challenges. They don't do those things. They do things like, say, hand her objects and don't tell her if they're food or gifts, or ask (ask!) her to go on missions. What is she supposed to say to that? "No, I'm good, I've got this splinter in my claw and I just don't feel like fighting in this apperantly totally voluntary war effort"? Hordak would have her for lunch with a side of that weird sickly-sweet bar they have here. Blubber? Butter? Butter.
And this? Tiny Frosta curled around her tail like it's some kind of soft plush while she snores into her lap? This is easily the best challenge so far. Scorpia would swear by it. Whoever invented this little go around deserves a raise, it's so good. Two extra blubber bars for desert kind of raise! Ingenious.
Also, Scorpia needs to pee. A lot.

Sure, she no longer has to help Mickey pick between the three ties he owns for half an hour before every banquet—a task she misses not at all—but she also has no one to help with her hair, no one to offer her a supporting arm for balance as she takes off her skate guards, and, apparently, no one to help her paint her nails before competitions.

Zenitsu shut his mouth and endured it with his teeth clenched, struggling against his own emotions in turmoil. What the hell was even wrong? At least he could justify when he cried in the face of a battle or a rejection or at disgusting medicine and impossible training challenges, but he wasn’t in danger now. Only his hands were being put through a hardship. And his ears.

Bucky half expected Sam to show up on Steve's behalf, or maybe even Nat as a voice of reason. He knew after his last talk with Steve where he all but begged him to stop running to check on him for every little thing, that it wasn't him. He sure as hell wasn't expecting Thor to walk into his room. He peeked out from under his blanket, eyes a little too wide to look completely at ease.
"You can tell Steve I'm fine. And that sending someone to check on me is the same as actually checking on me."
He pulled the blanket back over his head, listening for the tell-tale sound of boots leaving. Instead, they got closer, stopping right in front of the couch. He heard something small, glass, being set on the coffee table and looked out again.
"No, I did not come here because at Steve's behest. I overheard you ask Clint to show you how to paint Natasha's nails. I thought I might offer myself up for practice. Clint will be along once he finishes with her."
