Daniel Edwards was not extraordinary. Skinny as a reed, awkward to a fault, and, while somewhat intelligent, not very articulate. So, when White Chlorination Syndrome hit Earth like a hammer against a pane of glass, he had no chance of surviving the devastation. He declined the ultimatum of those 'Gods,' and suffered the fate of all who caught this disease: a slow, disturbingly painless death. That is what should have been.
A2 was the last surviving member of her squad. Used, betrayed, and left for dead, she seeks two simple things: revenge against YoRHa, and the complete eradication of Machine life. It drives her emotions, her actions, her every waking thought. It is her mission. It is her reason for living. For after it is done... there will be no one left to mourn her passing. That fate was averted, in a different time.
And it shall be averted once more.
Defying fate, chance, and things as they should be, Daniel is put back on Earth in the year 11945 AD. YoRHa sees it as the last hope of Humanity, thus the Commander sends Reconnaissance groups down the surface periodically. None of those groups has yet to find her, except one, and he's grouped up with a unit 2 model B android.

Summary
After finishing the game a few headcanons popped into my head, first what if A2's alluded to backstory is actually the result of her being a trans girl and fighting with command over this. Also, while I know it's generally accepted these days that Weight of the World is about 2B, it does fit 9S really well if 9S used she/her pronouns, and 9S definitely does give off some eggy vibes in the game, so all of that came together into this extremely self-indulgent fic which can in short be summarized as:
A retelling of various scenes in game except A2 is a jaded trans woman and 9S is a very confused egg.
This is the first time I've done any creative writing in over a decade and first time posting here so despite a lot of polishing it's definitely a bit rough around the edges but I hope y'all enjoy!

To do this, however, means that she will have to take this journey alone.In the year 2020, as more and more children are gathered by the Hamelin Organization to fight the Legion, a strange object is seen launching into space, disappearing from radars in seconds. Within it, a timer is set. Once 10,000 years have passed, the object will return to Earth, allowing its creator's wish to come true. However, things don't go exactly as planned.
