Summary
I rang the bell for the second floor flat and waited until the speaker crackled. A voice which was only a fraction less posh than Nightingale’s said, “Who is it?”
“Peter Grant,” I said. “I’m here from the Folly.”
“Oh, Christ,” said the voice. “You’d best come up.”

Summary
"Be honest, sir," I said, scrabbling for the left flipper, "I look like a moron."
"I’ve seen you look moronic before, Peter," Nightingale said, flicking the wheel right and sending us careening down a side street and me thudding against the left-hand door. "This does not even, as you put it, 'crack the top ten.'"

Summary
There had been thefts at three successive Goblin Markets, and one incident of serious vandalism, before Robin Goodfellow had deigned to call in the munificent arm of the law—in this case, the Special Assessment Unit, colloquially known as the Folly, and disparagingly called the Isaacs by the demi-monde. Which just goes to show that after over a century of alternating condescension, neglect, and active persecution, it takes more than a few years of community-focused policing to change community perception. Even when that policing is being done by a handsome and charismatic DC such as myself.

Summary
Nightingale in Herefordshire.
Two sets of nearly-identical, wide eyes stare up at him in frightened expectation. To his left, and two steps behind him, where he had ruthlessly propelled her, he can feel Victoria Lacey’s cloying panic leeching into the atmosphere. One of the children – Nicky, he thinks, the fae-born raised in Rushpool – is shivering now that the heatwave of the day has passed. Peter’s mac is rolled up somewhere in the boot of the Jag, down at the bottom of the hill where he can hardly just pop back for it, but he equally fears to give her his own suit jacket, in case it should be taken as the staking of a claim.

Summary
At the beginning of Operation Jennifer, certain people at the Met got interested in a comparative assessment of magical power. My best answer to what you do when faced with a practitioner of Nightingale’s calibre is that you come at them with another Nightingale. Failing that, my personal preference is to summon the closest friendly river goddess and hope it's high tide. Not currently an option.
All I had on me now was a sanded mobile, a suspiciously well-fitting suit, and what wits I had to rub together.
Time to use them, Grant.
