    Summary

Sometimes darkness brings enlightenment. Soon after John Thornton's first proposal, our heroine begins to realize that the master of Marlborough Mills isn’t the problem.

And things go on from there.

North & South from Margaret Hale's POV, though that changes later on. I tend to stick mostly to the novel, but there will be glimmers of the 2004 BBC adaptation, too.

    Summary

Basically the Napoleonic Wars on the backs of dragons, plus all the other normal artillery and stuff. This is where Frederick is involved in a mutiny, but John already knows who he is, and gets forced into helping by his commander, Mr. Bell, the dragon he captains, and Margaret Hale. Bell, of course, knows exactly what he's doing, and maybe if Dixon would leave the two ALONE for a minute, Bell's goddaughter might actually fall in love.

If the missive had met its mark: What would have been if the stone had struck John Thornton instead of Margaret Hale on that fateful day at Marlborough Mills? A tense, angst-ridden, mid-canon, slow-burn HEA Retelling of North and South from the day of the riot, both book and TV miniseries based. *COMPLETE* (epilogues to follow)

    Summary

Two years after her mother dies Margaret Hale follows her father, Richard Hale, from Durham, North Carolina to small-town Pennsylvania. Richard's new job teaching at the local community college put him and his daughter in contact with John Thornton, a local entrepreneur looking to finish his bachelor's degree.

Margaret, having just transitioned from a high-profile criminal defense attorney to public defender, thinks she has the world figured out. She knows the current American criminal justice system is broken, the vast majority of the world's evils come from capitalism, and John Thornton is definitely an ass.

John Thornton would rather eat glass than listen to the privileged and out-of-touch daughter of his new professor explain to him how the world works. At least, that's what he'd say if anyone asked.

Milton is cold, ugly, and rough. Most of the people don’t seem to understand what a smile is and her own mother remarks that she would probably find more cheer and joy in a cemetery than here. But her father left the ministry and has found himself a teaching position at Milton University, so to Milton they go.

    Summary

An alternate imagining of Mrs. Gaskell's story, assuming Margaret had been hurt more seriously on the day of the riot. Intertwines elements of both the book and the BBC series, but focuses less on angst and more on the relationship of John and Margaret. Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, but am only presuming to borrow them for a while

    Summary

The only reason Margaret could think of for imposing on Mr. Thornton in such a way, was that she had been more affected by the blow to the head the previous day than she'd known.

Why else would she simply not tell Henry Lennox the truth of the matter? The continuation of the charade, however, she cannot blame upon concussion.

Or, Margaret accidentally tells the world she's dating Mr. John Thornton, who is ecstatic.

    Summary

    There was a gift.

    There was a curse.

There is a power in the house of Hale, given to the firstborn son of every generation - the ability to turn everything he touches to gold. Though the original intent of the power was thought of as a gift, in reality, it is a dreaded curse that causes the bearer a life of fear, isolation, and danger.

    Thus, Prince Derek is born.

    ---

    [Excerpt from Chapter 22]

He didn’t think much of his hands, or any part of his body, really - but Stiles gaze had lingered enough to make Derek wonder what Stiles’ thought. Now, Stiles honey eyes were fixated on Derek’s hands, running over them like they were something precious rather than tools of death.

    “Hmm.”

    “What.”

“Nothing, I just - I thought they wouldn’t look like normal hands.”

    “Why.”

“Because they’re magic,” Stiles said, looking up to meet Derek’s eyes.

“They’re not magic, they’re cursed,” Derek said, tucking his hands back into the sheet.
