When his eyes adjust, his gaze is drawn to a man sitting at one of the larger tables in front of the stage. Juuse’s breath catches in his chest. Even from all the way across the room, he was drawn to him, unable to take his eyes off of him. As if he can hear Juuse’s thoughts, the man glances towards the stage and their eyes meet. Juuse yelps and quickly draws back behind the curtains fast. Juuse’s stomach twisted nervously as doubts crept into his head; What if he fell? What if everyone laughed at him or, even worse, booed him.
A warm hand clasps his shoulder, pulling him from his negative thoughts. Calle gives him a kind smile and nods towards the stage. “Knock them dead, babe.”
Juuse takes a deep breath, closing his eyes for just a moment just as the spotlight hit the curtain. The light filtering through onto his face. Just as the music started to play, he released his breath and then stepped out from behind the curtains.
Tonight is his night to shine. As he’s stepping around the curtain, he vows to give the gorgeous man in the audience a show he’d never forget.

Closing his eyes, he listens to the sound of Juuse’s heartbeat, the familiar sound soothing.
He’s right on the edge of sleep when Juuse’s voice breaks through the haze of drowsiness.
“Next full moon, I want to take you to meet my pack.”

They met halfway and Pekka threw his arms around the younger goaltender. "You did good," he said, his voice low enough for only Juuse to hear. Juuse looked up at him, his mask still on, and beamed.
"I won that for you," he admitted, his eyes bright. Pekka's heart skipped a beat when he heard that. He had grown close to Juuse, keeping in touch whenever he was sent back to Milwaukee and inviting him to stay with him whenever he was called back up. Pekka loved having Juuse in his house. The younger man seemed to bring joy wherever he went. Whenever Juuse went back to Milwaukee, Pekka's house seemed colder and he looked forward to the next time Juuse came back to Nashville, each time hoping he would get to stay.
Pekka smiled and placed a hand on the back of Juuse's mask, returning his smile. "You won that for both of us," he said. Juuse laughed and leaned into Pekka's hand, like a cat seeking that one beam of sunlight. Somehow, without him knowing it, Pekka found himself bending forward, bringing his face closer to Juuse's. Through the cage of his helmet, Juuse's eyes widened, his pupils dilating.
“What’s his name?”
“His name is Juuse Saros. One of the reasons why it’s been so difficult to locate his father is because his mother gave him her name. Not the fathers.”
Pekka nodded and took the leap. “I’ll do it. I’ll take care of him.”
“You are a true blessing Mr. Rinne. When would be the best time to come over so you can fill out the paperwork?”
“Tomorrow would be fine. Around 3?”
“That sounds perfect. I’m writing that down right now, and I’ll be bringing Juuse over so we can go ahead and introduce him to you. Will that be alright?”
“Yes, that’ll be fine.” He was nervous and he wasn’t sure why. It was just a baby, not a bomb.
“Fantastic! We’ll be over at 3 pm tomorrow! Have a great day Mr. Rinne.”
“You do the same.” As he hung up he sat back releasing a big sigh. He knew he just signed himself up for a lifetime commitment. He didn’t know it for sure, but he just knew deep down he probably wouldn’t be letting the child go.
‘Am I ready to be a father?’
