Summary
This is wrong, this is so, so wrong. He needs to tell Merlin who he really is. He shouldn’t be doing this – whatever it is that this is – when Merlin doesn’t even know the half of what he’s getting into. When Merlin doesn’t know who Arthur really is. When Arthur can feel himself falling in love with a man who knows him better than anyone else in the world yet doesn’t know him at all.
But Merlin’s hand in his feels like everything he’s ever wanted, and there’s always tomorrow to tell him. Everything was too perfect, too earth-shatteringly wonderful to risk.
Until it wasn’t.

Summary
There was a moments silence where Arthur was momentarily stunned, and Merlin caught his breath.
“Did you just call me a Jabberwocky?”
or alternatively...
Magic is a myth. Arthur knows that but every time he expresses this knowledge Merlin always deflates. Sure, Merlin wishes it were real, but it isn’t. Of course, it isn’t.Series

Summary
For the prompt:
Trans Merlin is a struggling university student (medieval history) and to make ends meet, he starts writing short stories and posting them under the pseudonym emrys. Naturally, he starts with his namesake and somehow the character of Prince Arthur appears in them. Lancelot, bless his soul, manages to get him a small space in the magazine he works on that also sends a copy to their university, fully encouraging him about the potential of his short stories. Merlin is pretty sure Lancelot and Gwen (and Gwaine) are the only ones one reading his silly stories that may or may not have homoerotic leanings. It's not entirely his fault. Merlin may be a little bit too queer to write any sort of straight character.
Arthur finds himself under more pressure each day, with his father expecting him to be a fully developed lawyer at the end of college. Already at his wit's end after being a mediator in another fight between his father and (apparently) half sister, he prays for any distraction and it is Leon that suggests one of the new short stories being posted in the university's magazine. Arthur soon finds himself more than a little dedicated (obsessed) with them.

Summary
“He was rude to you once, I understand that, but if you truly get to know him you’ll realise-”
“It’s not about that,” at the incredulous look Lancelot gives him, Merlin rolls his eyes and corrects himself, “it’s not all about that. I just don’t think he has the emotional maturity and vulnerability to play Helos. They can change my story, but I want them to at least get Helos right. For all the gay kids out there. So they can see themselves as the hero in a fantasy story, something I didn’t get growing up. And Arthur Pendragon is not it.”

Summary
“I don’t want anything,” he finally promised. Merlin hummed and went back to typing.
The sound of his fingers tapping the keys at rapid speed was calming. It could lull Arthur to sleep, if he were honest. “You always want something when you say you love me like that.”
“I do not!” Arthur scoffed, nudging Merlin in the shoulder gently.

Summary
It is days like today when Merlin realizes how very grateful he is to be best friends and flatmates with the very wealthy and very generous Arthur Pendragon, even if it makes him feel literally insane most of the time. Even if the writer’s block is sort of Arthur’s fault in the first place because Merlin finds it increasingly demotivating and depressing to try to write emotionally satisfying gay romance novels when he suffers the misfortune of living in a rather emotionally unsatisfying one, with endlessly building tension and no fucking climax.
Or, Merlin is a romance writer secretly and pitifully in love with his best friend and flatmate Arthur. To unstick his writers block he decides to date Gwaine and Elyan, a poly couple. Turns out nothing unsticks except Arthur's sanity.

He and Arthur have struck up a friendship, but just as Merlin is working up the nerve to ask him out properly, he finds out that Arthur may not be what he seems.

Summary
“Why? Are you offering to buy me some?” Merlin jokes, letting his mouth run free like the idiot he is (why bother with pesky things, like a brain filter) “You know what they say, a man only buys you clothes so he can take them off you.”
Merlin hears a thud behind him as he climbs the stairs and looks over his shoulder, to see Arthur straightening up, as if he stumbled or something, “You ok mate?”
