“Aww.” Bucky dropped to one knee. “Are you embarrassed, Captain?”

Steve bit his lip and nodded. His whole body trembled with the effort of maintaining eye contact with Bucky.

“No, that won’t do. You have to say it,” Bucky commanded, knowing exactly what that did to Steve. He felt so fucking filthy, but he would do anything Bucky asked and everything Bucky commanded.

“I’m embarrassed,” Steve croaked. He could feel tears pricking at the back of his eyes.

    “Good,” Bucky growled.

“You leave the house smelling like that,” Tony warns, crowding up against Steve’s body and grabbing him firmly by the throat for good measure, “and I am legally allowed to do whatever the fuck I want to you. I don’t even need good attorneys for that shit. Anyone can get away with fucking a rock hard bottom,” Tony grins, his voice a sleazy drawl as he grinds lazily against Steve’s thigh. “You need a pack."

    Summary

Season after season passed and Steve didn't see a single human, only the animals and the birds and the plants and the lake, until the day the man with the silver arm appeared, stripped naked, and waded into the lake. For the first time in a long time Steve left his oak-self to crouch hidden in the bushes, watching him.

The man was beautiful, Steve had never seen a human who was so much like an oak, he hadn't thought it was possible, and he wanted to run his fingers over the man's skin, see if he felt as strong as he looked, see if his skin was smooth or rough. He wanted to touch his hair, find out if it was soft. He wanted to touch the silver arm, to discover what it was. It looked like metal, but he didn't see how that was possible.

In which Steve is something like a dryad, Bucky's not the Winter Soldier anymore but he's not quite sure he's Bucky, and together they discover that some choices are worth making.

    Summary

Bucky had heard of Hydra. Everyone had heard of Hydra: they were the unicorn hunters down near the border. The last thing Bucky wanted to do was get mixed up with hunters, but he was out of options. Hydra hunted unicorns, hunters needed virgins, and that was about the only thing Bucky had left to sell. If that’s what it took to get his mom and sister out of their dying town he'd do it.

Indentured to Hydra, deep in the wilds of the hunting preserve, far from the life he’d known and responsible for luring unicorns to their deaths, Bucky had never been more alone.

    Until he met the Warden.

Wardens enforced the hunting laws, had done ever since the country had nearly torn itself apart over the discovery that unicorns--beloved creatures, conduits to the gods above--could be turned into powerful magical devices. Under Steve’s eagle eye Hydra didn’t get away with anything and he was a constant presence, watching over the hunts. But Steve didn’t treat Bucky like a hunter. Steve genuinely seemed to care about him. Steve was always there when Bucky needed him and suddenly Bucky wasn’t so alone.

    Summary

Bucky didn't want much. Just to keep his head down, to sell his scavenged flowers in peace, and to stay off Shield's radar. His life would have been a lot easier if his flowers weren't dead and if being a necromancer wasn't illegal, but easy or not, he was getting by. Steve didn't want much, either. He was happy working for Shield, he had good friends, and overall his life was going just about the way he wanted it. Problem was, being happy with your life was generally an invitation for fate to throw a spanner in the works—and in Steve's specific case, it was going to be a spanner named Bucky.

(A love story about flowers, trust, and magic and the choices we make about doing what's right.)
