Summary
Another post-mountain fic (such fertile grounds they gave us!) Jaskier's father dies and, having just been summarily told to fuck off by Geralt, Jaskier sees no reason not to take up the title of Count de Lettenhove.
It all just kinda gains its own momentum from there.

Summary
When Jaskier gets invited to play a few songs for the patients of the mental health ward his best friend Triss works at, he doesn't expect much of it. After all, he's just a music teacher with a guitar, the most he can do for these people is to entertain them for a short while.
But then he finds out about Geralt, who's spent the past few months in the ward without even leaving his room, and Jaskier realizes that he might still be able to make a difference, after all.

After. After the mountain and the shouting and the utter ache that's taken up residence in his chest. After. He returns to what he knows, to Oxenfurt and his students. He cuts his hair, he grows his beard. He remakes himself, renames himself, he is Julian again for the first time in a long time. And still it isn't enough. He drinks, and he teaches, and wonders if this is all his life has brought him. And that's when Fate pushes him into a blinding light, and lands a Witcher and his Child Surprise on his doorstep.

Summary
There’s a lot of legal jargon that Geralt doesn’t care for and Calanthe urges the lawyer to skip over, but all in all, Pavetta and Duny didn’t own much. They lived with Calanthe so they had no property. Duny had a vehicle that he was apparently giving to Geralt (he just hoped it wasn’t a sports car. If he was doing to drive something other than Roach, it had better be practical). They had a fair amount of liquid assets but nothing too crazy since Duny was only a local detective. The one thing they had that was of true value was their daughter, Ciri.
Geralt had heard when she was born. Duny had texted him a picture about a day after and he couldn’t even lie to himself that it hadn't made him melt a little. Every once and a while since he would get a photo of her as she grew, and they were the only photos he kept, besides a few of Jasker and Yennefer. He supposed the little tyke would be raised by her grandmother now that she had no parents to speak of.
And then the lawyer says Geralt’s name, and suddenly nothing is as it was.

Summary
Jaskier looks into the mirror. Julian of Cintra stares back at him, and there is almost nothing of Jaskier in that reflection. Gone is the bard who’d wowed the Continent with his songs, and Jaskier grieves for the loss, heart heavy and aching.
He’d managed to discover what he would have been had he not been a witcher, but he will never have it again. Returning to the Path will be painful, knowing that he will once again be rejected by humans, and it leaves a hollowness in Jaskier as he realises that he will no longer be loved. Not anymore.

Before Jaskier the bard was born, there was Julian of Cintra, a witcher tired of his life on the Path. Julian gets the life he wants and lives four decades as Jaskier, until he’s forced to return to his life as Julian after the dragon hunt.
As he struggles to reconcile his two identities, Julian finds Geralt and Ciri, and slowly lets himself trust again.
