After yet another bridge-crossing scheme goes disastrously awry, you'd think Héctor would consider giving up... right?
But really, if you think that, then you don't know Héctor very well.

One was as vile and repulsive as his brethren. He murdered, and maimed, and reveled in it.
The other was as slow and indirect as the rest of his brethren. He hated his dark half as much as the others did theirs.
But who they were did not matter, for Thra saw its moment, and seized its opportunity.
Twenty one years after his death, Héctor finds that his photo has finally been placed on an ofrenda. Ecstatic, he hurries across the marigold bridge... and finds himself in a hauntingly familiar city that is not Santa Cecilia, in a place that is not a home.
Something strange is going on.

Current chapter: "Slammed into a Wall" featuring Héctor and Ernesto, pre-movie.
“Do you care about your familia... more than your music?”
Héctor felt his every bone light on fire. As if there would ever, ever be doubt of that again, after all he’d gone through, the mistakes he’d made that led to a hundred years of misery, a hundred years of being unable to mend his wife’s broken heart, a hundred years of separation from his daughter. “Si, Ernesto. Especially more than my music.”
A smile crossed Ernesto’s features. “Are you willing to put that to the test?”
Wheatley was sorry. He was sorry he had hurt the lady, he was sorry about his behavior, and he was sorry he was in space.
But being "sorry" isn't all there is to redemption.
After being brought back to Aperture by a certain malevolent AI, Wheatley finds that there are tests in this world harder to solve than any chamber he could construct. The test scrambles his processor, tears at his inner workings, and threatens to completely break him in every way possible.
But with the help of others--a mysterious construct and a former test subject--Wheatley begins to learn the true meaning of redemption, and the price of it.

Gosh dang, please read this. This is honestly one of the best fanfics I have ever read. If you're like me and are interested in Flowey and Papyrus's relationship pre-game, this is the fic to read. Just heed the warnings. I cannot recommend this enough. (In spite of the rating, it's not a smutfic.)
