Hendery raises his eyebrows. The flyer is for an event where you can be the best wingman ever! by pitching why a single friend deserves a date. In powerpoint form. To a group of assembled singles at a bar off campus.
Huh. Wasn’t Xiaojun complaining the other day about his single life woes?

"Smiling at me. People don't smile at me. It's disconcerting."A maths teacher who couldn't be more outwardly different from Quill takes an interest in her despite the warnings of her colleagues. Summary
Quill attracts the attention of the Coal Hill maths teacher, and is thrown by someone actually taking an interest in her and her well being. Caught up in an intense new intimacy, the two women fall fast and hard for each other, to the bewilderment of most who become aware of it.
With someone in Quill's corner who has a personal connection to slavery in her family's history, Charlie is forced to face the truth about the prejudiced propaganda he was fed from a young age, and begins a journey of self-awareness, growth, apology, and self-forgiveness. And Tanya, meanwhile, in the midst of grieving for her mother, falls for a girl who is as lost as she is.
Along the way, Quill's house becomes a haven for sad gay teenagers, and as such, a truly unconventional family begins to form, a family that brings happiness to those who least expected to ever find or deserve it. (And maybe, just maybe, one day Quill and Charlie will hug, and mean it.)
