“Hmm, perhaps.” The man’s expression turned cagey as he looked Geralt over.
Geralt heard the unspoken implication and sighed inwardly. “What do you want me to do?”
Now the bookseller looked scandalized and it wasn’t an act. “Why would I….well, fuck.” Geralt blinked and the man continued. “You’re probably used to having people take advantage of your services. That’s beyond rude, it’s incomprehensible. People have no manners anymore.” He sighed, straightened his doublet. “I was going to ask you to dinner.”
“What?” Geralt’s ears must be plugged.
Another Jaskier/Geralt first meeting AU, where Jaskier is a bookseller and Geralt picks up a package for Triss, which should be the beginning and end of such an errand. Jaskier gives Geralt a priceless book for Vesemir, in return for dinner at his place. And as the seasons change, Geralt leaves Kaer Morhen and returns to Novigrad...and a bookseller whom he can't stop thinking about...

The inn stopped when a mountain of a man clad in black armor with two swords strapped to his back strode in the door. The minstrels screeched to a halt and everyone cut their chatter to stare. Jaskier went into full emergency mode, giving the musicians the stink eye as he said, “Continue, everyone! It is Belleteyn, after all! Don’t miss the dance reels behind the inn, great fun!” He motioned to the servers and yelled, “Drinks on the house!” A raucous cheer went up as the inn slowly bustled back to life, but the stares followed the Witcher anyways.
A Witcher. At his inn. Jaskier couldn’t believe his luck. Most business owners didn’t enjoy having Witchers around, but that always seemed like superstitious balderdash to him. Witchers were strong and brave and capable of putting down creatures that haunted the caves and swamps and killed innocents. It never made any sense to him to denigrate such courage.
AU where Jaskier runs an inn, Geralt rents a room, and the two can't keep their hands off each other, but parting is damn difficult.

Merlin, a jaded journalist who aimlessly awaits a story interesting enough to get him out of grey, forlorn Dublin, spends his evening as per usual: local pub, beer, and a derisive thought or two.
And then Arthur shows up.
He takes a sip just as the entrance door opens and closes with a whoosh, and then, well. The sight of the company improves by what a standard measuring system calls a fuckton, and Merlin smirks into his glass.
Tall, golden, slightly stiff, with a hint of concealed sweetness inside. And he's not even describing his drink.
