Overall, life wasn’t too bad.
He was fifteen with shitty skin, knees that bruised easily, and a chin that couldn’t grow a hair. He had a job and a mom and a brother. He had the callus on his writing finger for company.
He liked sleeping because he dreamt while he was asleep. He tried to dream as much as possible, generally.

He wanted to ask if Charon had been lonely all those years before Hermes had shown up with his incorrigible smile and teasing manner. If he resented their mother for not making an effort to maintain some semblance of a relationship and abandoning him to his never-ending toil. He then wondered if Charon would find Hypnos' current misery fitting punishment for his own lack of brotherly attention and promptly lost his nerve.

Aizawa starts walking towards the exit, obviously expecting Shouto to follow him, but Shouto's feet are frozen in place. His eyes flicker from the distorted reflection of himself in the ice to where All Might is giving him a long look, eyes kinder than anything Todoroki has ever been deserving of, and he feels sick.
“Todoroki-kun,” Midoriya says gently, squeezing his arm in what Shouto presumes is meant to be a reassuring gesture. “It’s going to be okay.”
He doesn’t think Midoriya is in any place to tell him what okay is, all things considered, but he chooses to keep quiet on the matter.
