"I'm going to kill him." Guzman's hands were grabbing the steering wheel so hard his knuckles were white. He checked the backseat in the rearview mirror. Nadia had pulled Lu into her lap and was stroking the other woman's hair. Guzman could hear "it's alright, it's going to be alright" in a soothing voice before Nadia met his eyes in the mirror. "She won't stop shaking," Nadia said. "At what point do we take her to the hospital?"
In theory, Lu had always known that her... whatever she had with Valerio couldn't end well. But she wasn't prepared for this.

Well, not him directly, but his stupid, skanky mother, who was slutty enough to fuck her very married father, then dumb enough to get caught doing it, which Lu’s mother took as a reason to file for divorce. Fucking idiots, all of them.
If it was up to her, there's no way she'd be living with the obnoxious, good-looking imbecile she cheated on her boyfriend with. But it isn't, so really, what could possibly go wrong?

When a guy with dark curls and a funky green mask sits down in the seat next to her, she turns to smile at him before she realizes he obviously can’t see she’s smiling under her mask. God, what the fuck even is her life right now?
