He didn’t watch a single other demonstration. When his friends talked to him, he spoke without taking his gaze from her. The heat from his stare was almost palpable, and she wondered for a moment if the consequences of humiliating him were worse than the joy she received from it.A little paper airplane flew in front of Hermione’s eyeline, drifting down onto her desk with a little flip. She was just about to instinctively look around the room for the sender when she realized exactly who it was from. As she lifted the plane, her heart picked up in her chest, and she carefully unfolded the parchment. On the inside of the note, in an elegant practised hand she saw the words written.

Summary
Alphas and Omegas depend on each other for relief from their designation. The longer that they deny their bodies' needs the worse the symptoms become. An Omega's heats will only get worse and more frequent, while an Alpha loses his control completely and is launched into a rut which affects not only his body but his mind.
The Ministry launches a program to help deal with the Alpha/Omega problem in the Wizarding World. They offer the chance for relief without admitting to your designation. A matching system where an Omega can use an Alpha to see her through her heat and an Alpha can use an Omega to keep his sanity. The best part is it is completely anonymous, the matches are decided based on mutual attraction to each other's pheromones, and a potion prohibits the brain from recognising your partner.
Hermione Granger has never been with an Alpha, her heats are becoming unbearable. Draco Malfoy begins to lose control of his body in his fight against his own designation. Ultimately they surrender to the program, knowing they have to face the inevitable lest they lose their own or take someone else's right to consent.

‘The Ministry really have no choice but to enforce marriages on the population,’ said another source who is supposedly in favour of the law, ‘there is even discussion of an amendment to the proposed law which would make it a requirement of all currently unattached Muggle-borns and pureblooded wizards and witches to undergo fertility testing to assign the best matches.’
This was most likely just a scare tactic, encouraging people to marry now before they were forced to marry someone they didn’t choose later. Even if it wasn’t, the purebloods still had a strong enough hold on the Ministry that the law wouldn’t be passed. Right?

5 years after the war Hermione finds out her life is falling apart by two articles published by The Daily Prophet. One with her boyfriend Ron Weasley kissing another witch, and another detailing a proposal for a new law to force Muggle-borns to wed into Pureblood families. Hermione is matched with the Malfoys, and it seems too cruel for it to be a coincidence. -

“Please, Draco, please,” she arched, willing his hand to strike down on the fleshy surface she presented to him. But while his hand was large and rough, the smacks were hesitant. Barely a sting.

“Hermione,” Harry took a deep breath and flipped the book over to see the back cover, “why is my name on this?”
“Like I said, someone is writing about us. The film we just saw was based on that book,” Hermione tapped the cover of the book on the top of the stack, “and it was incredibly accurate.”
Harry passed the stack of books over to Ginny, holding on to the first one. He turned the title of the book over in his head, mumbling the words quietly to himself.
“Harry Potter... me... Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Philosopher’s stone. Hermione, this feels weird. Am I the narrator?”
When Hermione and Draco uncover a familiar new film called “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” they learn that the wizarding world may not be as well hidden as they thought.
