Someone yells something about a battleship being commandeered, then, and Ace veers over towards it, absently grabbing Luffy’s arm and directing him towards the ship. He keeps running, sending fire every which way, forcing his tears and emotion down, but…
He doesn’t notice Luffy falling behind slightly.
And then-
Luffy stumbles and falls.
And doesn’t get up.
“Shi- Luffy!” Ace curses, hurriedly sending a wave of fire towards those in front of him and sprinting back to Luffy.

The wanted poster crinkles under the Strawhat captain’s careful pluck, the paper tearing away from the nail used to pin it as he stared at the worn ink upon the tanned sheet.
The bounty isn’t too high, in fact it was impressive for the person it was for. Yet that wasn’t what caught Luffy’s eyes, it was the image and name printed in bold ink for the world to see.
“Koby,” Nico reads out for the younger to hear. “With a bounty of 270 million berri.”

“D.... dad is coming back?” A small voice pipes up from the open door to their right, where Buggy’s Observation had already tracked the child and his mother’s faint presence.
Buggy’s first impression of Usopp is that he looks exactly like his father, but with darker hair and a longer nose. Otherwise? That boy definitely takes after his father. That might also be due to the sickly pallor of the woman resting on the bed, making it hard to find similarities between her and her son beyond their shared long nose and hair colour.
“There’s nothing and no one that can stand between Yasopp and his family if you’re in danger,” Buggy tells the boy as he crouches down in front of him, letting Loyal slip into the room and start examining the unconscious woman. “He and a couple of his nakama sailed off from the Red Force last night. They’ll be here before the end of the week if the winds hold.”
