Zuko remembers an evening several winters before, sitting on a shore not unlike this one. Suki had pointed to the ravens circling the bay, her green eyes cold and bright in the fading light as she told him of the strangeness of their life cycles—no sea raven ever remains in the same colony it is born into; once fledged, the young sea ravens set out alone across the sea, wandering for years before they finally nest in a new colony far from their own.

Two weeks after their daughter bent fire for the first time, Tonraq and Senna were forced to make an impossible choice—hand Korra over to the White Lotus to be locked away in a frozen compound and molded into their weapon, or accept Zaheer's offer to escape as a family and raise Korra themselves, knowing that they would be fugitives from the world.
Needless to say, things did not go as planned. Fourteen years later, Korra and her adoptive family leave the safety of Zaofu for Republic City in the hopes of finding an airbending master willing to complete her training.

Princess Yue falls in love with the vivacious, iron-willed Kyoshi warrior accompanying the Avatar from the south. They do many activities together, but Suki disappears from sight when the Fire Nation attacks. It's too much to hope that either can be each other's forever girl, or is it?
AU in which Yue lives, Suki is not all she seems, and Katara is the best wing lady and secret-keeper ever. Very not compliant with the Kyoshi novels. Written for 2020 Atla Secret Santa Exchange.
