Summary
In one moment Steve’s going into the house to take a new six-pack and in another, he’s outside, said six-pack slipping out of his fingers and straight to the ground. The bottles don’t shatter, they bounce on the grass and tumble to the side but he doesn’t really notice it, his eyes occupied with something… someone else.
He stands there in the middle of the lawn, slightly swaying on his feet because it hits him then, hits him with the power of thousands of suns. It’s like he’s sucked up into vertigo, his head spinning so much.
It’s possible he miscalculated some things.
Namely his feelings.

Summary
Once the report is ready, Steve gets up and makes his way to Danny’s office. He slows down his pace when he catches Danny’s slumped form through the blinds. He sucks in a breath because it’s all kinds of wrong for his partner to be so still. Danny is a constant motion and loud mouthed attitude not the exhausted line of his shoulders and resigned arch of his back.

Danny is tired. Not physically but emotionally. This morning he woke up from one of his dreams and for a long moment, he was confused when he didn’t find Steve by his side only to be disappointed when he realized it was just a dream and it wasn’t real no matter how real it actually felt in sleep.

Summary
Danny’s tired.
He looks at the face of Agent something or the other – Ezra, Danny reminds himself, Ezra Hayes – and scowls. The Agent stares at him with a blank look, and it pisses Danny off, it does, but he’s so friggin tired that he has a problem standing straight. Chin and Kono have his back, a calming presence for his mess of feelings and he’s not sure if he would be able to hold at all if not for them.

Summary
“You know, boss, you should mingle with the crowd, enjoy your stay after your successful and very stressful secret mission.” Kono says over the phone, she sounds entirely too cheerful and Steve knows where this is going. “Relax a bit?” She finishes with a grin, he has no doubts about this. He can see it in his head as clear as a sunny day back in Hawaii. She always grins like a madman when she tries to set him up and whatnot.

Summary
Danny’s three years old and he’s fascinated with the wings, they’re not always there, and it takes him some time to understand that they only show up sometimes. His mother wings are beautiful, especially in the sun when they catch the light and spark with gold. They show up often when she’s happy or sad, playful or angry, scared and brave. They answer to her every emotion.
His father’s wings are pretty much the same, gold and gorgeous but they’re not showing up quite so often, and he thinks it’s a shame. Danny’s own wings are almost constantly visible, a deep green sea color, moving in answer to his every feeling. He feels lucky that his wings are so expressive, he’s proud of them, how big they are and how lively they can be. He feels sad for his Pa, but later when he’s older, he thinks his dad got lucky.
