Kakeru was tasked by his upperclassmen to distract Haiji long enough for them to finalize his surprise birthday party. It was the first time he had ever gone on a date or talked to Haiji about anything that wasn't running but he didn't need to talk at the movies. What could go wrong?
Yet, he knew things weren't going to be smooth the moment he found Haiji in something other than a tracksuit.

Haiji nodded, tilting the bucket toward him. “It’s not fair if I’m the only one enjoying myself.”
Kakeru reached in to grab a handful of popcorn, preferring to munch on each piece carefully. He gulped, averting his gaze. “I’m enjoying myself.”
“You are?”
“M-Mhm, of course,” Kakeru replied, deciding to watch the trailers while choosing his words carefully. “I haven’t seen a movie in a long time because of running so I’m happy.” And of course, I get to finally spend time with you alone.
Haiji smiled. “I see, I’m glad.”
Kakeru didn’t know why but for some reason it was harder for him to continue the conversation.
