“You weren’t there! It’s not a good story. It’s long and it’s awful and you didn’t have to see him...see him like that. You’ve no right to it unless Porthos decides you do.”
Oubliette: n, French, from Middle French, from oublier - to forget
D’Artagnan knew he wasn’t going to make it.
Across the courtyard, by the wall, through the smoke of powder and the clash of swords, it was brutally clear to him.
Porthos was struggling to rise, blood pouring down his cheek.
D’Artagnan wouldn’t get to him in time.
Aramis is asking about Porthos’ scars again.
An exact drabble.
“I admit, this will be particularly enjoyable, because this one is special.” Rochefort pulled a dagger out of his belt and toyed with it. “But he won’t be the last. Everyone you love, every girl you’ve ever been seen flirting with, every witless Musketeer I can lay my hands on, I will drag them before you and you will watch them die.”
Pacific Rim AU. Porthos fled the Pan Pacific Defense Corps after Charon died while they were still in the drift together. Guilt-ridden and terrified he'd get Athos and Aramis killed in the new jaeger that's been built specifically for the three of them, he stays gone for over a year until Treville finds him working the wall and explains how bad things have gotten. Coming back means possibly risking the two men he cares about more than anything. That is, if he can get them to forgive him for leaving in the first place.
Everything’s changed. He can’t go back. He can’t drift with the two men he respects more than his own life. Not now. Not when his head is full of Charon’s torment and venom. Not when his own terror, his guilt, is so all encompassing that it feels as if it’s replaced the current of his blood completely.
