  1. Summary

After the dragon hunt, Jaskier is determined to prove to himself that he’s not a burden to anyone and ends up on a journey that pushes him to his limits and takes him back to his very roots. Meanwhile, Geralt is trying to reconcile with his bard and still support Cirilla, even with Nilfgaard’s growing presence through the Continent. All of them become involved in a war they wanted no part in, fighting side by side for very different things against soldiers clad in black armor and mages that threaten the lives of any who aren’t human. It’s up to Jaskier, Geralt, and Cirilla to save the Continent and all the people living on it, human and elf alike.

    Summary

Julian has never been on the path. He received the right training at the School of Griffins, shit his pants during the trials and everything. It was just a shame mages attacked Kaer Seren, killing everyone he knew before he could leave. Now he’s cutting a bloody path of revenge through the continent and if he picks up a few strays along the way, well, that’s nobody's business but his.

AKA: Jaskier tries (and fails) to be a standard Witcher and instead ends up spending a century beating up mages (Stregobor), hooking up with Elven Princes (Filavandrel), and accidentally adopting lost princesses (Renfri).

Note: Now into the canon years!

Geralt knows there's something....off about this new bard of his, if only he could figure it out.

    Summary

Geralt is just supposed to pass through the quiet Lettenhove area. He's not anticipating being begged by its people to help save their viscount from a curse that keeps him from daylight. Lord Jaskier, they call him, and he's likely dying.

As Geralt struggles to untangle the ugly web of history that has lead to the increasingly complicated curse, he finds himself spending more and more time with the strange young viscount and wondering just what he might have been before the curse, and who he might be after. But things are not always as they seem, and as the curse tightens its grip on Jaskier, Geralt is forced to face the fear of failing yet another person whose choices were stolen from them.

    Or-

Jaskier is kept from becoming a bard. Geralt finds him anyway.

    Bookmarker's Notes

It’s a gorgeous tale and so beautifully written. The suspense was killer, the horror aspects just gruesome enough to unsettle the reader and being able to solve the mystery right alongside Geralt was truly a work of literary art. I would go through and pick out every single one of my favorite passages, and I may just do that yet, but for right now the one part that hit me the hardest in this chapter was:

There’s no taint of his father attached to it, and Geralt cradles the wood in his arms as though it were a child.

“Hello, Jaskier,” he whispers to Jaskier’s soul. “I’ve got you.”

I had to pause for a moment and reread those lines at least four times because they’re so impactful. You’ve a wonderful way with words, on par with Andy Weir in the ways you’re able to convey complex topics in layman’s terms that don’t leave the reader feeling bereft or like the victim of condescension. And to play Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” during the epilogue was a stroke of genius because it instantly bright me to tears.

I could go on for days about how fantastic Silver & Copper is, and I think I’ll probably be thinking about this fic for a long time still and creating more fan content specifically for it outside of the playlist. Never before have I resonated so deeply with a fic and I can genuinely say that this is my favorite work of fictional literature that I have ever read.

According to Jaskier, they've lived this day almost a hundred times. Geralt doesn't remember any of them.

Geralt's path in life is killing monsters -- even when those monsters walk as men. But when a brutal spell from a powerful enemy leaves him incapacitated, Geralt will have to rely on the grace of those he's wronged.

    Summary

"Why -" he gestures expansively towards Jaskier, his lute, the forest around them, his swords now strapped to Roach "- are you doing this?"

A bard seeking fortune wouldn't watch Geralt across the fire with eyes half-full of tears that he didn't bother to blink away. An artist looking for a muse wouldn't press close, desperately close, against Geralt's side until he finally gave in and turned his head. A young man after a quick fuck wouldn't grip Geralt to him hard enough to bruise even a witcher.

The way Jaskier looks at Geralt makes him think he should know the answer already, but he doesn't, he doesn't.

"Because I know you," he says at last. "Because I have known you. Because I will know you. Isn't that enough?"

(One day, Geralt will understand that it was the closest thing Jaskier will ever have to a goodbye, and it's enough, it's enough.)
