The malodour was almost unbearable as he opened the door with one hand and held his breath behind his other hand. His facial features were scrunched—and so it took him longer than he should have to see the horrifying, scaly, massive corpse blocking his front door.
With slitted eyes, he glimpsed row upon row of iridescent scales splattered with drying blood. Long, thin spikes on a humped back. Sharp, conical teeth in gaping jaws. Very sharp, deadly teeth—
He screamed at the top of his voice. Slammed the door shut and staggered away.
He shrieked, "Monster!"
________________________Jaskier lives alone in a cottage in the woods, selling handmade jewelry in the nearby town for a living. His solitary existence is uneventful, until he wakes up one day to find a dead wyvern on his doorstep, left there by an even more menacing creature. But when the creature later returns to his cottage, he discovers that it isn't so menacing after all--and befriends it.

Summary
Wen Ning was sure this death would be permanent. There wasn't any Wei Wuxian to resurrect him and he figured it was better that way. Almost all those he loved were gone anyway so there was no reason to stay. If given the change there were things he would do differently. People he would talk to sooner. Relationships he would foster faster. But he was dead, and there would be no third time.
Turns out the Universe had a horrible sense of humor.

Summary
16 years after he took the ultimate step away from Jiang Cheng, he is back. It had taken him mere months after Guanyin Temple to find his way back to Lotus Pier. One day he had simply shown up with his donkey, drenched and wary and so painfully uncertain of his welcome yet as stubbornly hopeful as only he could be.
Jiang Cheng had wordlessly taken him to his old rooms and in all the months to follow, he has never told him to leave.
He has yet to tell him to stay.
Jiang Cheng wants Wei Wuxian and Wei Wuxian wants him but they keep dancing around another, Jiang Cheng pushing him away time and again even as he does everything to seduce him. It feels good to be the one walking away for once, or so he keeps trying to tell himself.
