Summary
Dick Grayson was too young to remember that his parents act was sabotaged, he also can’t remember that Deathstroke lies when he said he was given to the mercenary. The assassin has twisted feelings for the archangel reincarnated boy and though he abuses the 6 year old constantly, he feels affection for him deep beneath it all. After year of abuse Dick’s self esteem is completely destroyed, he’s convinced he belongs at Slade’s feet like a pet and when the Justice League find him, he has to learn how to live all over again. It’s a slow process and Hal and Bruce are constantly competing for his affection but they might as well be walking on eggshells. The only one who seems to be able to be near him without setting the boy off is Jason, Bruce’s first ward who has taken fierce affection for the shy little kid that looks at him with wide eyes. It may take years but the Justice League is determined to show the little angel that he is loved and that his place is in their crazy family and they will do whatever it takes to protect him from the killer that will stop at nothing to get him back.

Memories filtered through his mind and a chilling feeling began to fill his chest, it felt like death itself had curled its claws around his soul. Every laugh they had shared, gone forever. A kid shouldn't carry half the hatred that he did but for fucks sake he did. Good god did he hate, hate, hate.
Richard's cries calmed to soft whimpers as his eyes felt heavier, when had the world become so cruel. How had he missed it.
Inevitably, his tired voice surrendered to the silence as the darkness curtained the edge of his vision, in a strange calmness rained over him that reminded him of the saying his father used to say, peace after the storm. Except it didn't feel like peace. It just felt...empty.
He was lulled to sleep by the beat of his heart although it was probably from the impact of his head against solid concrete combined with malnutrition that he faced on the streets. But that was his opinion anyway. So he listened to the soft thumps of his heart and the last thing he heard was a deep voice that he knew for sure didn't belong to anyone he knew, but none of the words reached his ears. He just closed his eyes and waited for the silence to claim him.

Virgil flicked his eyes pointedly at the wires along the wall. The figurative penny dropped.
"Oh," Roman said blankly. "I've shrunk, haven't I."

Who would’ve thought that the big bad Red Hood could sing like a Broadway star?
Ever since Jason was young, the theatre and literature were his escape from the pain of his life. His ma would take him to a local theatre all the time, before the drugs really found her. On her worse days, he would sing to her from her favorite musicals like she did for him when he was younger. Alfred encouraged his love for the performing arts by teaching him to sing and act. He dreamt that maybe he could find himself in theatre when he grew up. But if his death, crappy first 23 years of life and a family who didn’t care for him at all, told him anything, was that he couldn’t escape his pain. Until Tim decided to give Jason a chance and now he has the opportunity to start a new life, to move on from his past. Maybe he could finally join the world of theatre like his ma and Alfred would want him to.
But can Jason actually do that, live a real, happy life? Would he even know how?- Language:
