As Jon woke up on a comfortable bed with sunlight shining directly on his eyes one of the many thoughts in his head was 'This wasn't supposed to happen'.
Jonny and the other mechanisms thought it would be fun to end a world. Get a story out of it. So they found a random planet in a random timeline and got to work, with a few casualties.

Bugs Bunny is hiding from the studio’s executives. He only wanted a moment of quiet and peace without cash-hungry sharks trying to exploit their cash cow and as such, decided to hide in the water tower. No one would try to look for him there. He wasn’t expecting to find three neglected toons inside. To find three neglected toon children, because that was what they were. Little did he know, these children would become the toon stars that defined a generation.
Or, Bugs Bunny basically adopts three siblings.

Martin was only just about to make his presence known when he looked down — a terrible habit which Martin recently picked up and has only led to far more flustered encounters than before, which is saying something.
He looked down at Jon’s tie.
It was crooked.
It would be so easy to walk over and straighten it, fix it for him. It was precisely the kind of disorder that always nagged at the back of Martin’s brain and kept him from focusing on precisely what he should.
