Outside it’s pitch-black, and the living room is dark except for the Christmas lights still hung up around the house—tumbling down and around the tree, along the perimeter of the living room, softly glowing through the window from where the lights line the rooftop—but it’s bright enough for Yukhei to make out all the important details of Renjun’s face. Renjun’s shy and blushing as Yukhei tucks a tuft of hair behind his ear, smiles when Yukhei’s fingers cup his chin and coaxes him forward, closing their distance.
It’s pitch-black and the house is empty, and this is something Yukhei’s wanted for a really, really long time.
“Me too.”
