One of the best fucking HP fics I’ve ever read. Deliciously dark at times and we’ll balanced with lighter tones. The concept is rather original (mixing up timelines to have the chamber opened in Harry’s fifth year). It’s very well written. And the characterisation for EVERYONE (not just the mains) is off the roof. I have been spoilt. I cannot read another fic without thinking about this one from now on.

    Summary

The one night stand Jim Kirk has with the Vulcan passing through Riverside is a welcome break from the monotony. It's good, very good, but so fucking weird Jim's sure he's never gonna forget it. He's not quite expecting to run into Spock again in San Francisco. A second one night stand turns into a weekend, turns into a lot of weekends, turns into Bones joking that he's living half his week at Spock's apartment.

But! But, and this is very important: they're not dating.

What also turns out to be important is Spock's job, which Jim never bothered getting the details of. Starfleet Officer and a bartender-slash-bouncer? That's fine. Starfleet Academy Instructor and cadet? ...Less fine.

Beautiful and easy read. Makes me wish there was more, but the ending is very satisfying too. Something so undramatic about Spock and Jim’s relationship yet has all the secondhand embarrassment of watching two friends fall in love with each other (aka not that much and leaves you feeling happy).

    Bookmarker's Notes

Hella cool worldbuilding, very much slow burn, Lawrence is hesitant to start anything with anyone.

To put that into proper sentences:
This story has an unique take on ABO and the way that the world interacts with itself. There are clear differences of power and lore with Lawrence stuck in the middle of everything as he has to learn how to be an omega of two worlds and most importantly, introducing himself to the world for who he is and not just by his secondary gender. Tharkay doesn’t show up until like 20 chapters in and it’s a sloooowburn. There’s little bits of something potential happening between them, but it’s mainly adventure and Worldbuilding so far (currently 24 chapters in at this point of this bookmark).

Not too slow updates so far; every couple of months.
There is some dark elements to this such as what is essentially spousal abuse (more like slavery in some cases, but not all of them) and a character threatening to rape Lawrence in his past, but it doesn’t happen.

If marrying Spock is what it’s going to take to get them both back on Enterprise for another five-year mission, then Jim Kirk damn well is going to marry Spock.

Some cute Spirk, very romantic with Jim being very oblivious to the fact he’s in love with his husband. Warnings for a lot of handholding and references to sexual relations.

    Summary

Captain Arthur Pendragon has put together the best team of specialists that the SAS has ever seen, but when his superiors assign Lieutenant Merlin Emrys as his communications officer, Arthur does everything to make him feel unwelcome. Arthur's job is to protect and guide his team through dangerous missions, and he worries that he can't do that when the newest member has a mysterious background and acts suspicious when he thinks no one is looking.

As their assignments become more dangerous, Merlin can't help but to use his magic to keep his team -- even his prat of a Captain -- safe from threats they couldn't possibly understand. But when they are sent on a undercover operation against a group of zealots intent on a magical apocalypse, Merlin needs to confront his fear of discovery and derision, and to finally trust his team with his secret.

Arthur and Merlin rely on each other for more than the sake of their mission. The entire world is at stake. When they learn -- from dragons, no less -- that they are prophesied to restore the balance of magic to the world, they fight on regardless of the outcome, because duty, honour and loyalty is a far stronger driving force than destiny.

    Is it long? Yes.
    Is it gay? Hella.
    Is it worth it? Absolutely.

Welcome to Footloose's Loaded March, if you haven't read this and are part of the Merlin fandom then you're missing out, and if you're not part of the Merlin fandom well it's a great time to start with Loaded March. Don't be intimidated by the long word count, it's a fairly easy read. It flows nicely and by the end of one story you're going "Is that it??? I thought it was going to be longer!"

At some points it can be anticlimactic but it's just enough to make everyone go "Good, I wanted a happy ending".
