Summary
Wei Wuxian is deemed a troublemaker but also righteous in his own ways but how can one deny his good looks which is accompanied by his friendly personality. Many tend to forget that he is ranked fourth in the most handsome cultivators of his generation. Gods, he’s the son of the servant yet when he smiles, everyone seems to swoon or blush or maybe both.
If only a certain someone named Lan Wangji didn’t try to glare at innocent people just for staring at Wei Wuxian for more than two minutes. Can’t he spare them some mercy when there’s an available handsome bachelor right in front who isn’t a glaring statue, a pompous peacock and a grumpy faced boy with high requirements in a bride.
Yet it doesn't stop everyone from pining after Wei Wuxian.

Being the Second Jade would naturally highlight his good looks, compared to that of a jade token he carries around with him as a Gusu Lan disciple. If only being a Second Jade can make him more friendly and approachable like his brother...or not.
Lan Wangji has this...tiny bad habit. He glares at people. A lot. His facial expression that remains immovable like a statue selling in those antique shops nearby can actually glare is a feat of the change of his expressions. Just not in a good way.

Shen Wei had always been alone, his younger brother’s companionship doesn’t count but being the Ambassador of the Realms and a university professor at the same time had certainly been tiring. When the principal and his vice principal had suddenly throw this job onto him after the teacher in charge suddenly goes on a three month vacation. He can’t find himself to refuse.
As he lies in bed, recovering from an attack and surrounded by the small children that are fast asleep from worrying and crying, he couldn’t help but reflect back the moments he shared with these unique children who, in the future, will form the Special Investigation Department to carry on his beliefs.

“It’s alright, young master, the dogs are gone I promise. Can you sit up? We can help you feel better. Do we need to find your parents?”
“Xichen,” Uncle says, voice uncharacteristically quiet. “Take Wangji back to Lotus Pier. I’ll take care of the boy.”
Part of Lan Zhan wants to protest, but most of him just wants to go somewhere quiet so he can calm down. He lets Brother take his hand to lead him away from the sight of Uncle kneeling to tend to the boy's injuries. They turn a corner and then the scene is gone and he faces forward again, his mind racing.

“What’s your name?” the man asks and Wei Ying blinks up at him, surprised that he wants to know.
“A-Ying,” he replies with a tremble in his voice and the man nods.
“A-Ying. I am Master Lan. Where are your parents? You are hurt and you need tending.”
Wei Ying sniffles again and ducks his head to scrub at more tears.
“They’ll be back soon,” he replies, like he always does when someone asks. It was the last thing Mother had said to him before she and Father had left on their night hunt, and though he isn’t entirely sure how long ago that was now he still trusts her promise.

All these would end in an argument and he feared that ordeal more than he feared facing the risk of losing his life or his own golden core. He focused.
Wangji reached into the part of his mind guarding his most precious, protected secret and desired it to be brought forward. He willed it to pass through his dry lips, "Wei Ying, I wish to court you."
Lan Wangji is thrown back in time to when Wei Wuxian kills Wen Chao and Wen Zhuliu. Instead of worrying over the big picture, his first line of action is to confess to his love. When that fails to be understood, he tries another way to be heard.
