Summary
Believing he has perished in a sandstorm, Peeta Mellark's crewmates abandon him on the surface of Mars where he must now figure out how to make 31 days worth of supplies last for four years. Meanwhile, recent college graduate and grunt in SatCon, Katniss Everdeen notices anomalies in the satellite imagery that reveal that Peeta Mellark is alive. Her discovery unites NASA, the nation, and the world in a race to rescue the stranded astronaut before time runs out. Haymitch Abernathy, Director of Mars Operations, assigns Katniss to watch over Peeta on Mars.
