Summary
For the past three years, I’ve been writing fanfiction for the Harry Potter fandom. In that time, I didn’t tell my husband about what I was writing—at all. Until this past Christmas I wrote a short story that he loved. He encouraged me to start putting my talents to work and start creating original content.
I knew I wasn’t alone in the endeavor from fanfic to original stories. There are several people I know personally who have self-published work, but even in the mainstream, we have stories like Shadowhunters, 50 Shades of Gray, and After that all started out as fanfiction. Making this jump really isn’t that crazy, but hardly anyone talks about it. Until now.- Words:
