    Summary

Being a Parselmouth came with the inherent predisposition to understand snake behaviours and imitate them. It was relieving Harry wasn’t going to kill anyone with venom, nor petrify them with his gaze. But also, somewhat frustrating as it was all completely useless. None of the skills that came with being a Parselmouth would help Harry survive Voldemort.

In might, in fact, have the opposite effect. For all Riddle's fury that Harry was the cause of his elder self’s defeat, he was fascinated by the fact Harry was also a Parselmouth. He had grabbed Harry’s face, turning him side to side looking bemusedly enraptured by Harry’s threat display. “At your age, I was imitating much more vicious snakes than this, Harry.”

That may have been all well and good, but Harry didn’t feel very vicious. He felt very threatened and in over his head.

    Summary

Harry was a spirit deer. An animal that had cultivated human form. He was highly coveted for the benefits his corpse could bring to those who consumed it.

Good thing he had a handsome, red-eyed man to help drive away any hunters.

At first it seemed to be simply an enjoyable companionship, but it eventually became clear that something greater tied them together. Invisible strings that reached beyond heaven and earth.

It was a blessing and a danger, and only if they embraced it could they overcome the shadows that lurked in their steps.

    Summary

“Hello dickhead,” hisses Nagini. "I am here to report your location and abysmally boring daily life back to Tom so he can find a way to kill you faster and more painfully. At least then he’ll give me more rabbits, because hunting is a pain in the arse and those nimble little carrot-fuckers are bloody tiring to catch.”

Harry stops weeding Aunt Petunia’s lawn in favour of staring at the giant python in the garden hedge next to him.

It’s the holidays after the Triwizard Tournament, Nagini hates this whole spy business, and Harry makes an unexpected friend.

    Summary

He finds himself in front of an ashy, marble fireplace, staring at a portrait.

In it, he can see four people, all dressed in white. A red-haired woman smiling, a man with his arm curled around her waist, another man whose watchful eyes glitter like rubies, and a woman, her curls bound and black as night. They are standing around a fire that, even as Harry rubs his eyes beneath his frames, seems to flicker dangerously in the portrait frame, the flames licking their vulnerable faces.

And in those faces, he sees a reflection of his present. “Mr Riddle?” He calls, and their host walks towards him, his gait unworried and relaxed. He passes by a window, and the sun highlights his timeless sort of handsomeness, like Mr Riddle could be both twenty five and fifty. Then he comes to stand by Harry, and his muscles seize as Mr Riddle’s arm brushes his own.

    “Please, Harry, call me Tom.”

“Tom. Why do those people look like us?”

    Alternatively, Harry descends into madness.

    Summary

It was not concern in that dark gaze however, but a possessiveness and disturbed look. He turned Harry’s face to the left and right, smoothing his long fingers over Harry’s cold, cold scar.

Riddle lowered himself down, so he was chest to chest with Harry, allowing Harry to clasp at his body in a tight hug. Riddle pressed his cheek against Harry’s, the bone sharp enough to cut. His long fingers carded through Harry’s thick, sweat-logged hair, pressing a scorching kiss to his temple as though Harry was fresh as a daisy.

“Oh, my little one. We will fix you.”

    --

The cost of making a horcrux was steep and when Voldemort manages to kill Harry, destroying the horcrux within, Harry finds out the exact price of losing a piece of your soul. It made a cruel joke that if Voldemort loved his horcruxes, Harry should love them too.
