“It’s meant to be a deterrent,” She says. “Meant to tell us off for some horrible thing. Sometimes, I think I want a thousand more, but I only have the one.”

She does not say, No one else has loved me enough for their heart to break when I drop it.

    -

For ages now, humanity has been cursed to bear the marks of the hearts they break.

Geralt has never been marked by anyone. No one has ever loved him enough.
Geralt has never marked anyone. He'd need a heart for that.

Jaskier is going to have a fit.

    Summary

Getting stuck in Kaedwen in winter had never been on Jaskier's plan. It's cold, they don't appreciate his music and nobody likes their national beverage anyway. The only redeeming thing Kaedwen has is Kaer Morhen, so Jaskier does what any reasonable bard would do in this situation: he decides to charm his way into Kaer Morhen to hibernate with Geralt and the other witchers. If nothing it will be an experience no human has ever had, fuel for songs and poems for years to come, while finally teaching him a thing or two about witchers he's just dying to know.

Curiosity tended to kill the cat, but Jasker had always seen himself as more of a bird anyway.

The post is yours, if you’re still interested. Yennefer said you amused her and Ciri wouldn’t shut up about you, so I guess I’ve no choice.

    -Sir Geralt of Rivia

Jaskier is a tutor that can't hold down a job. Sir Geralt of Rivia is a scandalous gentleman getting his hands dirty for the good of the Empire with a literal witch of an ex-wife living in his North Tower and an unruly, mysteriously-acquired daughter who has run off the previous five governesses. Billowing shirts? Suffering a fever after sprinting across the rain-soaked moors? Hastily unfastened breeches in the eerie library? Hunting parties that end in mayhem? It's all here.

    Summary

Jaskier tucks his face into Geralt’s stolen cloak and breathes. It smells like him, like leather and steel and sweat and the lavender soap he steals from Jaskier every time he bathes. Jaskier closes his eyes and tries to hold this moment close, remembering the feel of Geralt’s body weighing him down, the taste of his mouth, the sound of his gasp. It’s not enough.

    Summary

Despite Jaskier's hard work, there are still plenty of people who hate witchers. They think they're monstrous, inhuman, only held back from violence by a thin veneer of control. One mage has a plan to spread his views by capturing a witcher and bewitching them to remove their control. When the Butcher of Blaviken walks into his hideout, he's convinced he's found the perfect candidate - and a convenient way to get rid of the pesky bard that's been singing his praises.

Jaskier is forced to agree witchers are not human, but that doesn't mean they're dangerous. In fact, he's astounded by how many of Geralt's uncontrolled impulses involve touching.
