    Summary

Geralt’s first thought is that whoever had come up with all those tales about witchers had done a really bad job of it. The man standing in front of Geralt, with his pretty face and sweet, boyish smile, is about as far as humanly possible from the picture Geralt’d had in his mind of a typical witcher.

“I’m Jaskier,” the witcher says, then stares hopefully at Geralt.

    “Geralt.”

Jaskier beams. “Well, it’s lovely to meet you, Geralt.” The witcher peers at him inquisitively. “You’re not very talkative, for a bard.”

Geralt grunts. “You’re pretty damned talkative, for a witcher.”

    Summary

He’s hunkered next to his oil lamp, bent over his dinner, when he hears a voice. “That was kind of you.” Geralt’s head shoots up, brow furrowed. For one brief moment he’s baffled - how could someone get in here without him hearing? - but when he sees who it is, he stills. The man standing in front of him is the man he buried not two hours ago. “Didn’t think Witchers provided that kind of service. I thought you handled, y’know, making the deaths happen.”

Geralt frowns, considering. His medallion is quiet, though he’s absolutely certain: this man is a ghost. “Who are you?”

A faint smile graces the man’s face. “Julian Alfred Pankrantz, Viscount de Lettenhove.” The smile sours. “Or at least, I was.”

helping a ghost find his peace is not the strangest contract geralt's ever taken on, but it's certainly up there.

    Summary

For a while, Eskel is kept company on the Path by a certain flirtatious bard, whom he is quite smitten with. Yet when Jaskier offers his assistance with a minor wound, Eskel is painfully reminded of all the reasons he cannot allow anything to happen.

Jaskier is quick to explain why he's being dumb.

    Summary

Geralt doesn't find a djinn in the lake. But his trouble with sleep takes a turn anyway.

If it weren't for the very real fact that Geralt could split him in two with his bare hands, Jaskier would press the matter further.

Instead, he presses his lips together and quietly counts down from five.

Even as he sits staring almost motionless into the flames, he thrums like lightning in the air during a storm. Jaskier wants to give him something... uncomplicated.

    Summary

Facing Geralt once more, words come without much input from his brain. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were following me," he snarks. His heart is beating too loudly in his chest. Idly, he wonders if Geralt can hear it, whether that's a thing witchers can do.

"I'm not," Geralt says, deadpan, as if it were a genuine question.

"Hmm," Jaskier says. Wants to smack himself for it straightaway.
